WELL done for highlighting the chronic shortage of teachers (TES, August 4).
I was intrigued to note the tone of outrage from certain people who referred to “disgraceful” gimmicks being offered by one agency. You then listed the other “tacky and inappropriate” methods used by this agency, thereby provided free advertising.
It is high time somone add-ressed the real reasons behind the teacher shortage and exposed the dog-eat-dog mentality of these unregulated entrepreneurs?
Your publicity for these “gimmicks” may persuade more teachers to abandon full-time teaching altogether, hereby exacerbating the teacher shortage!
