Plans to open the first Greek Orthodox state secondary school in the country have been put on hold. Parents who submitted an application to open a free school in Barnet, north London, in 2012 have now postponed the planned opening until 2013, following talks with the Department for Education. Yiannis Pareas, who chairs the committee of parents driving the bid, said the group had received “tremendous and overwhelming support” from parents.
