Creative approaches to developing further education has led to destructive competition instead of co-operation in some colleges, Helena Kennedy QC, chair of the Further Education Funding Council committee for widening participation in FE, warned last week.
Ms Kennedy was addressing governors at Lewisham College at their annual dinner.
Ms Kennedy, whose committee is due to report this spring, called for new alliances to bring more people into education, praising the college as “exemplary” in attracting new students.
