Music - JazzWorks
Jazz FM has teamed up with PricewaterhouseCoopers to launch an education programme - teaching jazz to underprivileged children in inner-city schools. There are 56 schools across the UK now involved.
What is it?
A day-long workshop on jazz music or dancing for up to 30 pupils, with a concert performance in the evening. JazzWorks claims to empower young people through performance.
Who’s behind it?
The JazzWorks team is made up of workshop leader Adrian York, three musicians and two dancers. Each has been CRB checked and they are experienced at delivering workshops in a school environment.
How does it work?
The JazzWorks day consists of three sessions of one to two hours, and includes an evening concert. Using recorded and live music, and dance performances, the group leader takes the audience on a journey through the history of jazz and jazz dance.
