Former teacher and community activist Margaret Greenwood MP has been appointed as new shadow education minister for schools.
The MP for Wirral West, who is a former shadow secretary of state for work and pensions, is among four shadow ministers announced today by Labour leader Keir Starmer.
They will serve under newly-appointed shadow education secretary Rebecca Long Bailey.

The other ministers are:
• Emma Hardy (FE & Universities)
• Toby Perkins (Apprenticeships & life-long learning)
• Tulip Siddiq (Children & Early Years)
Mr Starmer said: “Under my leadership, the Labour Party will be utterly focused on working in the national interest, rebuilding people’s trust in our party and winning the next election.”
