(Photograph) - Something we do a lot in our department is dress up. We bought a selection of outfits - medieval wench, Viking, Napoleon, bishop - and use them throughout the school. They have been good value for about pound;30 each.
We’ve had “This Is Your Life: Napoleon”, with a history teacher answering questions in role, hot seating of the medieval wench and a re-enactment of the Battle of Stamford Bridge with staff dressed up as Harold and Harald Hardrada’s wife (I got the beard). It grabs pupils’ attention and inspire imaginative teaching. The rest of the school are quite used to seeing a First World War veteran limping down the humanities corridor.
