Two mobile units will visit each school for four weeks at a time on rotation. Each unit is furnished with 15 digital guitars, drum modules, laptops and accessories. Tutors will work with upper primary pupils, using interactive tuition software by Gigajam. The lessons include easy-to-understand notes, video to enable pupils to watch and listen at each step, audio files with full band backing tracks to play along with and an electronic performance facility.
Brian Greene, of Gigajam, says the company was so pleased to be involved in Highland’s scheme that it adapted its software to make it easier to use in primary schools. “The new narrated version means that the lesson notes are spoken, so pupils can either read along or simply listen.”
