KNIGHTS TO REMEMBER Young squires will get rigorous training at the new Knight School being developed by Historic Scotland. Led by 13th-century knight Andrew de Moray (aka Ian Deveney of Battle Scar Entertainment) P4-P7 trainees will start with a tour of the castle defences before being schooled in how to be a knight. Skills taught include weapon-handling, making knight helmets, jousting with lances, quintain and horses, and learning about the codes of courage, bravery, loyalty and honesty. Sessions take 90 minutes and cost pound;2 per pupil. The hands-on nature of the sessions makes them ideal for groups with special needs. Sites offering the Knight School are at Edinburgh, Stirling, Bothwell and Urquhart Castles. For more details contact Historic Scotland: telephone 0131 668 8793; www.historic-scotland.gov.uk
