The sad life of Michael Jackson (“Jacko’s ‘Messiah’ gig”, July 3) is a monument to the utter vacuousness of celebrity, to which no child should be encouraged to aspire. Like George Best, his flaws outweighed his genius, and for this reason we should be wary of using him as a role model. He was the American Dream that became a nightmare, a modern-day picture of Dorian Gray.
