The TES editorial on September 12 said that “No one appears to have a complete list of the (educational) research projects being undertaken in Britain”.
This is not so. The Higher Education Funding Council holds the data on the 1996 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) which includes information on all funded and unfunded research undertaken in 104 departmentscolleges of education from 1992.
As a member of the RAE Education Panel I have most of this data but am not allowed to write about it. I hope the HEFC will make the data available to the forthcoming Office for Standards in Education inquiry into education research.
