The 2007 SET fair is supported by INEOS (the global chemical company which owns the Grangemouth petrochemical and refinery complex), Careers Scotland and Falkirk Council. It is part of the “My Future’s in Falkirk”
regeneration initiative. The fair runs until March 19 and has a string of workshops:
* Time for technology: every pupil gets hands-on experience of designing and making their own clocks. It’s a race against time to finish during the workshop.
* Career box: using real-life contexts, pupils link core skills and their application in the world of work.
* Earth and space: pupils are taken by stereoscopic projection beyond the Milky Way and through constellations to see millions of stars as they have never been seen before.
* Renewable energy challenge: pupils have to design and construct their own wind turbine using only the K’Nex kit provided.
