I agree with Gemma Warren that trying to deliver a new, fresh curriculum comes at the expense of one’s life (Friday, February 16). David Blunkett thinks a pitiful pay raise makes up for our appalling working conditions. But we teachers are human. We have our personal lives to live so we can be balanced, rich individuals and do our job.
It’s true that children have to go home and prepare their projects So do teachers. We only have one life and we have gone into this profession because we believe we can make a difference. But we are hurting our families and ourselves because of the Government’s shortsighted vision of education. We need more people sharing jobs with a good salary, smaller classes and more paid time to research and lead a normal life.
