Gordon Brown was at the launch of the new-look Apprenticeships last week at Selfridges in London.
Some invited apprentices were “treated” to front-row seats as the Chancellor praised the scheme - which has dropped the word “modern” from its title. On arrival, he told the teenage guests: “Sorry you’ve got to listen to all these boring speeches, but the shop doesn’t open until 10 anyway.”
Now that “modern” has gone out of apprenticeships , is he about to do the same for the “new” in Labour?
