In the week that Gavin Williamson could not remember his A-level grades, hundreds of thousands of learners of all ages received results from A levels and GCSEs to Btecs and other vocational and technical qualifications.
While colleges were quick to take to social media to offer support whatever grades students received, some sector leaders spent their week reminding the government and others that results days were about more than just academic qualifications and university places.
