Mr Qunice’s resignation is the latest in a string of ministerial departures over the past 24 hours, including chancellor Rishi Sunak and health secretary Sajid Javid
Children’s minister Will Quince has resigned from the government, after saying he had “repeated assurances on Monday to the media which have now been found to be inaccurate” on the Chris Pincher row.
Mr Quince, MP for Colchester and a former parliamentary under-secretary of state in work and pensions, replaced Vicky Ford last September.
He said on Twitter he was resigning with “great sadness”, but had “no choice”.
His resignation follows the high-profile departures from the government of health secretary Sajid Javid and chancellor Rishi Sunak as pressure mounts on prime minister Boris Johnson over his handling of the row surrounding Mr Pincher.
Mr Quince spoke on several media outlets yesterday to defend the prime minister over his handling of the matter.
He had taken on the role of children’s minister as the government launched its long-awaited SEND Green Paper following its SEND review.
