Liam Kerr is the shadow education secretary in Scotland.
He takes over from namesake and Conservative party colleague Stephen Kerr, having previously had responsibility for Net Zero, Energy and Transport.
That is one of the two headlines from a reshuffle of the Scottish Conservatives’ leading roles: Jamie Greene - another former shadow education secretary - has been replaced at justice by Russell Findlay, previously community safety spokesperson.
Mr Kerr, a North East Scotland MSP since 2016, previously worked as an employment lawyer and was educated at George Watson’s College in Edinburgh, and the universities of St Andrews and Edinburgh.
His deputy will be Roz McCall, an MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife since 2022.

Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross said: “I’m delighted to announce this new shadow ministerial line-up, which underlines the formidable talent and strength in depth among the team of Scottish Conservative MSPs.”
He added: “This is a key juncture in Scottish politics, and I’m convinced this new line-up will expose [first minister] Humza Yousaf’s hopelessly divided and distracted SNP government.”
SNP MSP Stuart McMillan said: “Douglas Ross suffers from the reverse Midas touch - everything he does ends up a mess.
“The Tories are supposed to be the main opposition in the Scottish Parliament, but all they seem to do under Mr Ross’s leadership is fight among each other.”
