GCSE students have got multiple vocational options, apprenticeships and skills minister Gillian Keegan has said.
Speaking on GCSE results day, Ms Keegan told students that “there are many exciting options for you to choose from to take your next steps.”
She said: “From September you can choose brand new T Levels, equivalent to A levels, which combine classroom study with a substantial industry placement to get a head start in your career.”

Background: Two more T level providers delay delivery to 2021
T levels are due to be offered in 44 colleges across England in September, covering three pathways: education and childcare, construction, and digital. Originally, 50 colleges had signed up to deliver T levels in 2020, but six have dropped out of delivery this year, with some citing disruption from coronavirus as the reason.
Ms Keegan also highlighted apprenticeships and traineeships as great pathways for young people.
In July, chancellor Rishi Sunak announced incentives for businesses to offer both traineeship and apprenticeship places. He pledged a £111 million boost for traineeships, giving businesses £1,000 for every trainee they offer a work placement to, and £2,000 for every young apprentice.
Ms Keegan said: “Apprenticeships are available at all levels up to degree and are an excellent way to start in a huge range of industries, from health care to engineering. We have also tripled the number of traineeships so more young people have access to valuable work experience to build their confidence.”
