A FORMER president of the Geographical Association who taught geography to undergraduates and trainee teachers for more than 30 years has died, aged 72.

Patrick Bailey gained a love of geography while in the Navy, and was a contributor to The TES for more than 20 years. He ran the geography department at Leicester University’s school of education until retiring in 1990, but continued to teach geography PGCE at Loughborough University and an undergraduate course at Leicester until a few weeks before his death.
