This is a great way to introduce the concepts of “bucket filling” for the beginning of the year or reminders of self-care and positive and empowering learning environments. There are a total of 60 cards which includes a particular behaviour and on each card the student is asked to reflect on the situation and choose whether it is a Bucket Filler or a Bucket Dipper. The student may require some reflective questioning should they need prompting as to how and why a behaviour may be a bucket filler or a bucket dipper. These cards are created to facilitate conversation, discussion and insight. This resource includes 60 cards which has a narrative of what is happening in the situation, as well as 60 cards without the narrative to encourage the student to really reflect on the situation. Fine motor skills are achieved when children learn to use their smaller muscles, like muscles in the hands, fingers, and wrists. Children use their fine motor skills when writing, holding small items, buttoning clothing, turning pages, eating, cutting with scissors, and using computer keyboards. This Activity-A-Day Calendar is for a two week period which is great for school holidays or an intense short term intervention. This program is aimed at supporting sensory modulation and integration, specifically utilizing tactile stimulating activities. How does it work? Social stories are great for increasing a students understanding of socially appropriate behaviours and interactions. This social story explores the concept of “Walking in Lines”. It explores key aspects such as encouraging students to face the front, hands down, walking behind the person in front, use your eyes to watch where you are going and to be quiet. Visual supports are included to enhance the students understanding of the written word. The following Peer Pressure Scenario Cards explores some realistic and relatable peer pressure situations to support little learners explore this topic. There are a total of 20 scenario cards and written as first person to encourage empathy, understanding and compassion. On each card, there is a visual representation of the peer pressure situation, as well as a written narrative explaining what is happening. At the bottom of the scenario card includes a reflective question – “Was I influenced by peer pressure?” Students are then encouraged to answer “Yes” or “No”. As an extension activity there are some additional reflective questions for students to explore. Included in this resource are two paddle pop templates for both the “thumbs up” and “thumbs down” option. This can be utilized for whole class or small group situations to encourage each student to participate.

This workbook contains various activities designed to explore an individual’s self compassion and self-esteem. These worksheets and activities can be used as a foundation for discussion and reflection. Self Compassion is about accepting yourself no matter what happens. For example, even if I am feeling insecure, I completely accept myself as who I am. Self Compassion means being understanding and gentle with ourselves when we struggle, fail, suffer or even feel inadequate instead of criticising yourself. Self Compassion means taking a balanced approach to any negative feelings or experiences that we encounter. Instead of becoming overwhelmed, exaggerate or even suppress our emotions and experiences, self compassion means accepting ourselves – even the parts that are vulnerable and imperfect. Just remember…self esteem is not about learning to love everything about ourselves…it’s about loving ourselves even though there are things that we do not like. If we see self esteem as a destination of perfect self acceptance it will always seem too far away.
