A lesson planned for English File Advanced textbook, level C1. Topic corresponds to the first topic of module 1, ‘We are family’. Activities created to compliment and extend the textbook, but really it can be used as a standalone lesson on the topic of family. A lesson focused on developing the learning of family idioms, with practice across the skills of speaking, reading and writing. The slide notes pane has been populated with explanations on each activity.

Unit 3.2 from Mira express 2

A lesson I created to teach Unit 1.4 Adonde vas? based on Mira 2 express textbook. It contains a ppt presentation, a quick human sentences starter activity and a grammar worksheet I made myself to work on the present and near future tenses.

One document includes questions from units 1 to 3 based on mira 2 express, and the other one (summer term assessment) includes a wider range of topics and roleplays to be prepared. Mark-scheme also included to help you grade these on the spot.

You will find plenty of vocabulary for students to be able to talk about what they did in their holiday, sequencing each activity properly (list of extended sequencing phrases included) and understanding the preterite tense of -ar verbs, with practice included. A 54-slide ppt which covers the relevant language to teach Module 3.2 Te gustan las ciencias? from the Viva 1 textbook. Ppt recaps opinions and adjectives and adds new ones to describe both subjects and teachers at length. There is quite a lot to practise adjectival agreement and plurals. There are differentiated and challenging activities to practise all skills with your students, a range of starter activities and 2 different vocab tests at the end of the ppt. Unit 2.5 from Mira 1 express on the topic of food. It includes a wide range of activities and grammar worksheets.

A 60-slide ppt which covers the relevant language to teach Module 3.4 Durante el recreo from the Viva 1 textbook, and then extends on that by adding the unit from Mira 1 textbook, module 2.2: Que haces en clase? By the end of the topic, students not only will be able to talk about what they do at break, but also they will be able to talk about what they do in lessons. A nice thing to do if you have curriculum time for it. Ppt starts introducing a range of phrases to talk about what you do at break, a reading activity, listening from the book, speaking and finally a closing writing paragraph. Then, vocab is introduced for things you do in class, many of them recycled from Module 2 (Viva 1). It contains a range of activities to practise all skills, vocab tests and homework ideas. There are some present tense (regular) verbs activities as well to provide some extra practice. If this is of no relevance to you, on my shop you will find the straightforward version of Viva 1 - Module 3.4 Durante el recreo (no added content). A straightforward ppt which covers the relevant language to teach Module 3.1 Que estudias? from the Viva 1 textbook. Ppt introduces school subjects, parts of the day and recaps days of the week so that students can talk at length about what they study and when. By the end of the unit, students will be able to also say what their favourite day is and why. Ppt includes a number of starter activity ideas plus 2 different vocab tests. 3 differentiated sentence builders I created to get students speaking about: Kapitel 3 - Was machst du in deiner Freizeit? Kapitel 4 - Was gibt es in deinem Klassenzimmer? Kapitel 4 - Was gibt es in deiner Stadt? These have proved successful with my students, as they haven’t not only aided with speaking tasks, but they’ve loved to refer to them for writing tasks as well, as they know exactly what to do in order to produce high quality sentences. Each builder includes step by step ideas on how to extend sentences to go from a grade B to A*.

7 different boards where students highlight items based on the groups given in each board. With this resource, students will be reinforcing common grammatical points they get mixed up: personal pronouns: s/he, we, they high frequency reflexives, stem-changing verbs and irregular verbs verbs in the 1st and 3rd person, singular and plural por/para ser/estar preterite, present, future & conditional haber, ser & tener in the 3rd person singular Answers included; some boards require students not only to highlight but also to write the correct answer (e.g. in por/para). A popular resource among my students, as it’s an alternative way of doing revision for which you just need a bunch of different highlighters.

These are good to do as starters before a module exam is going to take place, or as revision before end of year exams. PPT contains 5 slides, 2 for module 1 - mis vacaciones (I did this twice in the year so I designed two versions); 1 for module 2 - todo sobre mi vida; 1 for module 3 - ¡a comer!; and 1 for module 4 - ¿qué hacemos? They all include items from each sub-unit within the module, ensuring everything is revisited. Each slide contains 12 questions ranging from very easy - easy - challenging - difficult for students to translate into either language, or come up with a short explanation / phrase. The harder the question, the more points they can take if they get it right. The idea is for them to do it at the back of their book / on a MWB. Answers appear on click. Allow at least 15 minutes of the lesson for it to be done properly.
