This PowerPoint is for the essay "Discuss two biological explanations for anorexia". Each slides represents a paragraph of the essay and has the full model essay slide by slide. The pictures are to help you remember each point and there are some memory pegs. There is an activity for students to complete to help them remember the essay and at the end of the PowerPoint is a Memory Story.

A2 Eating Behaviour. PowerPoint to cover the full exam question 'Discuss two or more neural mechanisms in controlling eating behaviour' (24 marks). A model essay is in the 'notes' section (beneath each slide) paragraph by paragraph. YouTube videos are embedded into some of the pictures, either hover the pictures in Slide Show format, or look for the link in the 'notes' section. The videos are there to help consolidate your learning.

This handy revisoin timetable (Gannt Chart format) allows students to plan their own revision timetable from now until the exams in May 2019. Print onto A3 paper (single sided). The dates are split into Monday-Thursday and Friday-Sunday. They can then check every Monday and Friday to see what topics they will be revision over the next few days. They decide what when they will revise each topic from the specification, however, I have put them in the order that I recommend they start (eg starting with research methods which can come into any section.) Planning the revision could be done as a directed study task, or completed during tutorial time with help from the teacher. They should put their Gannt Chart up on a notice board (or bedroom wall) where they can easily check it every Monday and Friday to stay on track. Aimed at anyone who has experienced being love-bombed followed by being ghosted (or dumped for no reason). It uses Ainsworth’s ‘Insecure-Resistant’ attachment type to give a possible explanation. It uses the Strange Situation research and is applicable for those studying A Level Psychology, The attachment Unit, but doesn’t include any evaluation. This resource has 2 questions about why we do statistical testing and the reasons for choosing the sign test. The rest of the question give scenarios and the students have to : a) calculate the value of N b) calculate the value of S c) identify and justify whether the calculated value of S is significant. A handy front sheet with formulas for Percentage Increase and Decrease AND a writing template for interpreting Descriptive Statistics (Measures of Central Tendency and Measures of Dispersion). This resource goes into more depth about parametric statistical tests. This is probably more useful for 1st year degree level where they will need more information about choosing parametric tests. The test gives a hypothesis and experimental design and then requires students to identify the level of measurement, whether it’s a parametric or non-parametric test, which test to use and the reasons why. It could be used as a test at the beginning of the next lesson. Most A Level psychology text books have 'Can You' or 'Check It' type questions on each page. These are exam style questions that help you assess your knowledge. I have written answers to typical 'Can You' questions for the Memory Unit of A Level Psychology. If you're a student, try the questions and then check against the model answers. If you're a teacher, you could set the questions for homework and then perhaps get them to do peer marking using the answers as a marking template. The stimulus for the assessment questions is based on the concentric star experiment performed by HM. I’m sure you’re familiar with this experiment, but just in case you’re not… HM had his hippocampus removed to cure his epilepsy, however, it destroyed his ability to form new episodic and semantic memories. He performed an experiment where he was required to draw between the lines of concentric stars using only his reflection in a mirror (a tricky task). He got better at the task despite not remembering having ever done it. It provided evidence for a third type of long term memory - procedural, often referred to as ‘muscle memory’. I usually use narrow margins for my Word documents, so if the formatting seems a bit out, then change the margins to narrow. This is the 4th set of unofficial exam papers for the Research Methods Section of AS Level Psychology. There is a stimulus (the same stimulus as the 3rd set unofficial exam paper) and questions (24 marks) for students to answer. Because it’s AS level I have only put 24 marks worth of questions. I am currently making unofficial exam papers for A level that have 48 marks. I have a created a video to help students ‘de-code’ the stimulus looking for ‘clues’ to help them answer the questions. This paper tests: Experimental Method Sampling technique Operationalisation Independent variable Random allocation as a control measure Pilot Study Measures of Central Tendency (strengths and limitations of the median) Bar chart Peer Review Validity There is a mark scheme for ease of marking, and/or peer marking. As in the real AQA exam, students should be given 30 minutes to complete the paper. These short answer tests are designed to test a student’s knowledge of the wording and content of the specification for different units. They should therefore help students understand the possible wording of the questions on the exam paper. They will also highlight any areas they should focus on for revision. The mark schemes allow for quick peer marking. I use them at the beginning of a revision session on a particular unit so students know where to focus their revision. They follow the format of the real exams, i.e. have a stimulus and all the questions are based on the stimulus. This is the second set.
