Psychological Explanation for Love Bombing followed by Ghosting

Aimed at anyone who has experienced being love-bombed followed by being ghosted (or dumped for no reason). It uses Ainsworth’s ‘Insecure-Resistant’ attachment type to give a possible explanation. It uses the Strange Situation research and is applicable for those studying A Level Psychology, The attachment Unit, but doesn’t include any evaluation. I am making another video and resource specifically on the Strange Situation for A Level Psychology, which is better for students of psychology.

'Psychflix' Psychology Display. (Films/boxsets that are related to topics in psychology)

The files include posters for a ‘Psychflix’ display. For each film or box-set there is a short description, the units it links to for A level Psychology and a QR code which takes the student to a trailer for the film or an article. (To scan the QR codes, just open the camera on your phone and point it at the code; most phones will pick up the code and take you straight the link). There are some ‘stretch and challenge’ questions so that students can watch the films while considering an issue such as ‘free will-determinism’ and challenge themselves to answer the questions. Psychflix: I got the font online (it allows you to print off single words) and then printed it out on A3 paper. I cut out the letters and glued them to black card. I then stapled this onto the notice board. YOU WILL NEED BLACK BACKING PAPER FOR YOUR NOTICE BOARD AND A STAPLE GUN. Any probs, please do get in touch via this website or on twitter: @blonde_pretzel or Youtube: Successful Psychology My students LOVE this noticeboard and it generated loads of discussion. I also think it will be great for open evenings as it looks striking and is a good talking point. PLEASE BE AWARE SOME OF THE FILMS ARE AN 18 CERTIFICATE AND YOU DECIDE NOT USE THESE, eg Fight Club and Legend. Thanks for looking :-)

Sign Test Assessment Activity for AS and A level Psychology

This resource has 2 questions about why we do statistical testing and the reasons for choosing the sign test. The rest of the question give scenarios and the students have to : a) calculate the value of N b) calculate the value of S c) identify and justify whether the calculated value of S is significant. YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE YOUR STUDENTS WITH A CRITICAL VALUES TABLE OF S IN ORDER TO DO PART © OF EACH QUESTIONS. Unfortunately I can not attach one here as it goes against copyright law, however, most text books have a critical values table in it, or you can Google one. If you have any questions, please tweet me or leave a comment here. @blonde_pretzel YouTube: Successful Psychology

Short Answer Tests on Spec. Social Influence, Memory, Attachment & Psychopathology (AQA Psychology)

These short answer tests are designed to test a student’s knowledge of the wording and content of the specification for different units. They should therefore help students understand the possible wording of the questions on the exam paper. They will also highlight any areas they should focus on for revision. The mark schemes allow for quick peer marking. I use them at the beginning of a revision session on a particular unit so students know where to focus their revision. Unofficial exam paper for A Level Psychology Research Methods, 9th set [48 marks]

This is the 9th in a set of Unofficial exam papers for the Research Methods section of the A Level Psychology Exam. The stimulus includes information a football manager’s decision to ban his squad from playing video games while on a football tour because of their ‘addictive’ nature. The players use diaries to report their experiences. The stimulus continues further on in the paper about an experiment to test the difference in number of hours sleep between those who play the game and those who don’t. The paper tests: Content analysis Estimation of % from a pie chart Improving validity of the investigation Experimental Method Experimental Design Interpretation of a table of descriptive stats Determining significance from a critical values table Type 1 error Falsifiability The content and purpose of an Introduction Determining issues of internal validity Strengths of peer review Limitations of peer review Design a study (12 marks) (An Observation study including information on type of observation with justification, operationalized behavioural categories, time/event sampling, assessment of reliability of data) The mark scheme is fully comprehensive and should allow for peer marking. I tend to use narrow margins, so if the formatting appears ‘out’ then try changing the margins to narrow. If you have any concerns or questions about this resource, please do get in touch either via this website or twitter: @blonde_pretzel or YouTube: Successful Psychology.
