KS2 printable, differentiated Four in a Row Games for Finding Fractions of Amounts, also known as Fractions of Quantities / of a Set / of a Group / of Whole Numbers etc. Ideal activities for lesson starters and early finishers tasks. Originally made for revision and consolidation in Year 5 and 6 but might suit other years too. Answer keys included. Please check the preview to see if the calculations provide an appropriate range of challenge for your students. SAVE by purchasing this as part of a Fractions of a Amounts Activities BUNDLE (coming soon), along with my Fractions of Amounts Differentiated Treasure Hunt, which can be purchased separately if required. You can also purchase it as part of my bigger Fractions Activities BUNDLE, along with Hidden Word Puzzles for a variety of Fractions concepts. If you prefer, you can also purchase the Fractions Puzzles Worksheets as part of my Fractions, Decimals and Percentages BUNDLE Print and laminate the Four in a Row boards for regular use. The boards were originally designed in A3 to work especially well with larger groups but you can scale it down to print in A4 if required or preferred. There are 6 game boards, two for each level of challenge, indicated with a star system, with one star being the least challenging. The one star version includes only unit fractions of small numbers. The two star version includes fractions of larger two-digit numbers, while the three star version progresses to fractions of three and four-digit numbers. Students work strategically as pairs against pairs or one against one to get four correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. They roll a dice each time to decide from which column to pick a calculation (the columns are numbered 1-6). If there are no calculations left in the column whose number they have rolled, they either skip a go or roll again (depending on the rules you choose). Student write their answers on the board with a dry-wipe marker. They can either use a different coloured marker to record answers on the board or add an initial or symbol if using the same colour as their opponent. Answer keys can also be printed for student checking. Conversion of metric units only: millimetres, centimetres, metres, kilometres, millilitres, litres, grams and kilograms. All puzzles are in PDF format. Early finishers love being challenged by them plus they make great collaborative starters too! Includes a puzzle for each of the list below: Converting Length (one-star, less challenging version) Converting Length (two-star, more challenging) Converting Volume / Capacity Converting Weight (Mass) Ordering Measurements Converting Measurements for Mental Addition and Subtraction calculations An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, these no-prep measurement puzzles make ideal starter, early finisher, revision or homework activities. They can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. They are similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after converting, ordering, adding or subtracting the measurement. Each puzzle contains a grid. Pupils circle any boxes containing errors, then put together the letters from these boxes to reveal a maths word. Pupils often forget or avoid checking their own work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves. The range of puzzles in this resource is ideal for differentiation and / or to cater for a range of groups and classes across Key Stage 2 (KS2) and some early KS3. Hopefully they'll be helpful for your teaching over many years. I hope your students enjoy using these puzzles. I would be grateful for a review if you get a spare moment. It works especially well if they roll a dice to find which column they must pick a calculation from (columns numbered 1-6). If there are no questions left in a column, skip a go or roll again. Imagining that they pay for each item with £1, pupils use a different coloured whiteboard pen to record on the board the change due for each of their transactions or add an initial or symbol if both teams are using the same colour. I recommend printing in A3 but A4 is okay too. The LA versions have a star next to the title. Print on different coloured card or paper if required. Angles Game Year 5 / 6

(2)
Upper Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 5 / 6 printable activity for classifying angles (identifying angle types), turns, 8-point compass, missing angles etc. A game board and 80 question cards (differentiated at two levels) to add variety and fun to angles work in Upper Primary Y5 and Y6 (or Second Level Primary 6 and 7 in Scotland). It could suit other ages for differentiation and revision. It mixes up different aspects of the topic in a fun self-checking learner-directed activity, allowing the teacher to work with other groups. There are additional challenges for the children to complete as they move around the board. All in a 15-page PDF file. Differentiation: There’s a more challenging Green version, while the Blue one is for younger or less able learners. A different set of question cards is provided for each game. In the Green version, questions 1-20 focus on identifying angle types / names (acute, right, straight, obtuse, reflex) and 21-40 involve turns and the 8-point compass. Questions 40-50 deal with working out missing angle sizes on a straight line, vertically opposite angles, angles around a point etc. It should be simple for you to weed out any questions that have not yet been covered. In the Blue version, questions 1-20 focus on less challenging questions about identifying angles and 21-30 bring in turns and the 8-point compass. I used different coloured card for additional sets so they didn’t get muddled, and laminated them. I recommend blowing up game boards to A3 for use with bigger groups. No prep printable puzzles in PDF or make them digital with Easel. Includes answer keys. No prep required: Just print! Students use the answers to make a path through the maze. The correct pathway does not pass through all boxes. Use again: You might want to laminate to use again and again, with students using a dry-wipe marker instead of a pencil or highlighter etc. They can easily erase if they go wrong. Differentiation: There are mazes at two levels of challenge to suit different ages and abilities. Mazes work well for individuals, pairs or small groups. You might want to enlarge mazes for use by larger groups. The less challenging mazes go up to the 10 times table, while the more challenging mazes go up to the 12 times table. The less challenging mazes also have fewer paths. Answer keys: You could print an answer key so you can quickly find students who have gone wrong and nudge them back on course! The mazes also promote self-correction as students retrace their steps to see where they have strayed from the correct path! You could display the answer key on the whiteboard at the end for self-checking. Using a Calendar in Maths Game

(2)
A fun calendar skills maths activity for lower Key Stage 2 (KS2) (originally designed for Year 3 and 4 - Y3 and Y4) - or Primary 4 and 5 in Scotland-, to provide practice, during the Time focus in maths, of reading or using a calendar. It consolidates understanding of months and gives practice of calculating days and weeks after / before etc, developing students’ general understanding of how calendars work. It could be used with lower ability students in Year 5 and 6 too. Students will practise terminology such as ‘fortnight’, ‘day before yesterday’, ‘a week on Tuesday’ etc and be encouraged to count on and back in sevens for full weeks. If they are to move forwards or back 8/15/20 days etc, they can learn to move to the nearest exact week then move back or forwards a day as appropriate, rather than counting days one at a time. **UK date formats used. ** Please check the preview to assess suitability. The resources are in PDF within a Zip file. The Question Cards are also included in a Word document to be easily editable so that you can amend them if required, perhaps adding in details relevant to the school / country in which you are teaching. The game board is in 3 sections and is comprised of 3 months of the calendar (May, June and July). Children use the instructions printed on the cards and boards to navigate forwards and backwards in time, until someone reaches the end of July! A rule card is included for the children to refer to. This could be used with groups across the whole class or perhaps just for a group that needs lots of consolidation of calendar work, to add some variety to their learning programme. The boards were designed in A3 and they work really well at this size if being used with a larger group. If you can only print in A4, you might want to scale it up on the copier after printing. However, A4 works fine too. You might need to use the ‘shrink to fit’ setting on your printer if printing in A4. I hope your students find this an engaging activity. Fractions of Amounts Game

KS2 Finding Fractions of Quantities / Amounts Numeracy scavenger hunt or relay activity: an active printable mental maths team game, with differentiation, ideal as a whole class starter or plenary at Year 5 / Year 6 and early KS3, especially when focusing on fractions of a quantity / amount. It can be played multiple times in a lesson or across several lessons as groups can use different card sets each time. Teams complete a treasure hunt-type chain of fractions calculations, followed by a ‘Find the Target Number’ mental maths challenge, using a mixture of the four operations. There are 54 double-sided cards, forming sets of 6 cards for 9 teams. A key feature is the chance to involve lower ability students in a fun whole class activity to give them a boost of confidence without it being obvious their calculations are less challenging (3 of the sets are at an easier level). Full instructions included, along with solutions. SAVE by purchasing this resource as part of a BUNDLE: Fractions of Amounts / Quantities BUNDLE Fractions Activities BUNDLE KS2 Maths Treasure Hunt BUNDLE Students collaborate on a treasure hunt type maths trail and when they’ve collected all 5 answers, they are given a target, which they must make using 3 given numbers. You can print and laminate the cards in batches of 3 sets, so if you don’t require them all, you needn’t print them. The cards should be printed double-sided (they’ve been laid out to facilitate this). I print by selecting the ‘2-Sided Short Edge (Top)’ option. However, if you can only print one-sided, print all the even-numbered pages, replace the paper, and print the odd-numbered pages on the back. Give each team their ‘Start’ card. Spread out all other cards, answer side up. Each team sends one person to collect the correct answer card, on the other side of which will be their next question and a letter to confirm which team it belongs to. On the other side of the final answer card will be a target number, which teams must make, using the numbers printed in boxes in the bottom right corner of 3 of their cards. Use all 3 numbers and only once each, using any of the 4 operations. The first to make their target number wins! One possible answer for each of the target challenges is printed on the solution cards. Please visit my store for many fun, time-saving maths activities: FullShelf Resources

My French basics resources are made for students beginning French and near beginners in KS2 or early KS3 (Years 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8) and equivalents but they may suit others, depending on experience. Please check the previews to assess suitability. PDF format. 107 pages. You can purchase this pack as part of a Telling the Time in French BUNDLE, which also includes a pack of printable games and activities and a presentation and flashcards pack. INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE: Whether you are focusing on the 12 or 24-hour clock – or both – there’s plenty to choose from here. Just select the resources you want. The 12 hour versions of each resource can be found first. In almost all cases, these are then followed by 24 hour versions (except for the maze). The “12h” or “24h” in the top right corner will help you identify them. The worksheets and puzzles are at various levels of difficulty, all of them differentiated, to provide plenty of variety and challenge for you to select the most appropriate for the range of ages and abilities that you teach. SUPPORT PAGES: Word mats to display or print for students who require it, for 12 and 24-hour time, and in black and white too. Please note that these support pages are also contained in my printable games packet for this topic. WORKSHEETS: 10 worksheets (with answer keys), all in both 12 AND 24-hour versions, and all differentiated at least two ways using a star system. The 1-star version is the least challenging, for lower ability, younger or less experienced students and almost all of these focus on quarter hour intervals. Many of the 2-star worksheets are in five minute intervals. For Worksheet 4, the 1-star version is in five minute intervals and the 2-star is to the nearest minute, to provide variety and extra challenge. The two “À quelle heure…?” worksheets (Les Activités / Le Transport) are differentiated 3 ways. PUZZLES: There’s an airport puzzle, hidden word puzzle and maze. The airport puzzle is differentiated; the other two are not. The maze also does not have a 24h version.   EXPLORE MORE… French KS2 / KS3 MEGA BUNDLE 1

Multiplying 3 Numbers

This active, printable KS2 Mental Maths starter activity for multiplication of three factors is a treasure hunt / scavenger hunt or relay type game, to be played in teams, with differentiation built in. It’s ideal as a whole class warm up or plenary at Year 4, Year 5 and 6, perhaps when focusing on multiplication, especially the associative property / law of multiplication. It can be played multiple times in a lesson or across several lessons as groups can use different card sets each time. Teams complete a treasure hunt-type chain of three single digit numbers multiplication calculations, followed by a ‘Find the Target Number’ mental maths challenge, using a mixture of the four operations. There are 54 double-sided cards, forming sets of 6 cards for 9 teams. A key feature is the chance to involve lower ability students in a fun whole class activity to give them a boost of confidence without it being obvious their calculations are less challenging (3 of the sets are at an easier level). Full instructions for teacher and pupils is included, along with solutions. I have a collection of these Grab the Answers games, each one focusing on a different maths concept. You can explore the bundle below. Students collaborate on a treasure hunt type maths trail and when they’ve collected all 5 answers, they are given a target, which they must make using 3 given numbers. You may wish to remove cards from any set not being used, although this is not necessary. On your signal, teams turn over their Start card and complete the calculation. Each team sends one person to collect the correct answer card, on the other side of which will be their next question and a letter to confirm which team it belongs to. Ensure teams immediately replace any cards not marked with their letter. The process continues until the team have answered all five calculations.

Upper Key Stage 2 (KS2) Y5 and Y6 perimeter games: 10 bingo / lotto game boards and 60 cards are included in this differentiated pack. There are 5 boards and 30 cards in two sets. ALL ANSWERS ARE INCLUDED. PDF format. In Scotland, this suits Second Level Maths, Primary 6 and 7. Each child or pair has a board with 6 perimeter answers on it. The cards feature 2D shapes with the measurements of some sides marked on, which the children use to work out the perimeter. Children have a board each or per pair. I recommend having one perimeter shape card turned over at a time and all players working out if it matches the perimeter answer on their board. Lower and higher ability versions both contain a variety of squares, rectangles, irregular quadrilaterals and triangles, while the two-star version also features compound shapes. The one-star version has more simple calculations to work out in metres. The two-star version includes decimal numbers and some conversion between centimetres and metres. Answer cards are included for pupil self-checking or to help teachers assess. The cards can also be used separately from the bingo /lotto game, with individuals or pairs working out the perimeter and checking. They could perhaps time themselves to see how many they can correctly answer in 5 or 10 minutes. Or small groups could compete against each other to get the answer first, scoring a point if they manage it. If you don’t need to use both versions at the same time, I recommend printing the boards back to back to save on card and laminating pouches. If using both sets of cards, I suggest printing them on different coloured card to help keep them separate. Fun Key Stage 1 Maths add and subtract cards, ideal for independent work in Year 1 and Year 2 (Y1 / Y2). This free sample includes 16 printable write and wipe trail cards for early finishers, lesson starters, warm ups and revision, which will also suit some Year 3 (Y3) and older KS2 students requiring consolidation, including those with ASN / SEN. Regular practice using these resources will help to build speed and accuracy and they are an engaging change from standard worksheets. Laminate them for children to complete with dry-wipe pens or use in dry-erase sleeves if you wish to save on laminating. Alternatively, leave them uncovered and use as worksheets with a difference. These are great to have to hand throughout the year to use as last-minute meaningful ‘fillers’. They can even be turned into a competitive game if required, with pupils racing each other to complete.   4 cards have been taken from each of the following 4 full packs: Adding and subtracting within 20 Adding and subtracting within 50 Adding and subtracting 9, 10 and 11 Adding and subtracting multiples of 10   The full packs from which these cards have been taken each contain 36 cards and answer versions of all cards. All four full sets (144 cards) are available in a great value bundle here: Addition and Subtraction KS1 Maths Card BUNDLE   Or, if you would like just the first two packs, a smaller bundle is also available: Addition and Subtractions within 20 and 50 KS1 Cards. Starting at the top illustration and working their way around the card in a spiral, children write the answer to each calculation in the box, creating a running total as they go. The final answer is printed at the end of the trail, beside the illustration in the middle of the card, so they can see if they have correctly completed it. If not, children can check their work to see where they have gone wrong. Thank you for your interest in my resources. I hope they work well in your classroom. KS2 Analogue to Digital Time puzzle worksheet (converting analogue time to 12 hour digital time) and answer key. This is a free sample from my fun, printable Hidden Word / Spot the Mistake Time puzzles pack. The full pack of 9 puzzles for various time concepts at Upper KS2 (Year 5 / Year 6) and Early KS3 revision is available here – ** Time Puzzle Worksheets** The full pack also contains puzzles for telling the time to five minutes and nearest minute (analogue), converting between 12 and 24 hour time, converting between units of time (seconds, hours, minutes) and 12 hour time durations / time intervals. An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, these no-prep puzzles make ideal warm ups, fast finisher activities or homework. They can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. They are similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after the Time work has been completed. Each puzzle contains a grid. Pupils circle any boxes containing errors, then put together the letters from these boxes to reveal the hidden word. Students often forget or avoid checking their own work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves.
