A quote revision game for Macbeth and A Christmas Carol containing 98 quote prompts (49 for Macbeth and 49 for A Christmas Carol). The competitive and collaborative nature of the task means students find it highly engaging. Can be used with 1 or 2 dice. It is currently in A4 but I recommend enlarging it to A3. In order to advance the number decided by the dice, the student must think of a relevant quotation that matches the prompt. For example: The prompt might be: A quote about Macbeth’s masculinity. The answer could be: ‘I dare do all that may become a man’.

A handy worksheet to revise 50 carefully selected key quotations from Macbeth. Task 1: Write a brief summary of each quotation. Task 2: Colour code it by linking it to one of the 4 main themes. A PowerPoint containing carefully selected annotations on the poem, learning outcomes, questions and opportunities for making comparisons to other poems in the Power and Conflict section of the anthology. There is also a 4 page booklet containing a copy of the poem and two sets of comprehension questions.

2 lessons/PowerPoints. Lesson 1 has carefully selected annotations followed by 13 comprehension questions based on the annotations. There is also a starter activity involving an 8 minute clip from the film ‘The Not Dead’. Lesson 2 recaps the first lesson before looking at how to improve grade 3 paragraphs by adding zoom ins and deeper inferences. The final activity asks students to compare the poem to Prelude, War Photographer and Bayonet Charge. To help with this, students are provided with matching quotations and a suggested basic writing frame.

A gentle end of term activity for the Power and Conflict poems. There are 15 key quotations – one from each poem. Students can colour in the visual representation of each key quotation before going on to complete the differentiated extension activity which involves exploring the importance of the quotation within the context of the whole poem in conveying the writer’s message. Resources to support the analysis of verse 1, 2 and guitar solo for Samba em Preludio. All music is on Sibalius 6 and worksheet have been created to break down the analysis. These are double sided A3 and also look to compare the similarities and differences between verse 1 and 2. Detailed annotations are on the powerpoints.

PowerPoint for a walking talking mock exam on the Eduqas English Literature May 2017 Paper 1 exam. The text used for Section A is Romeo and Juliet. The named poem in Section B was Sonnet 43. This has been used successfully with a whole year group.

Resources for 2 lessons or 1 lesson and a homework based on music for ensemble (musical theatre). Students must define terminology associated with musical theatre and then categorise this onto a summary sheet (answers on the pp). There are also 4 listening questions with answers with you tube links on the pp. 2 of these are based on the longer answers and firstly ask students to make notes on each section (a hint sheet is available) and then put this into continuous prose to be marked according to a SAMS mark scheme. Differentiated tasks are including for all stages of the lesson.
