Simple VCOP to help students produce a book review.

A simple blank table to encourage students to recall 3 quotations for the following combination literature texts: Macbeth, A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls, Power and Conflict. Useful when used in conjunction with my other revision sheets on the site.

An AQA Paper 2 Question 4 activity based around comparing a Donald Trump presidential speech (2019) with the Gettysburg address by Abraham Lincoln (1864). The first two tasks guide students towards writing up their comparison.

A 2 hour training session on how to teach functional writing for GCSE Paper 2. Can be used to train both teachers and students. Contains 64 slides. Includes exam requirements, a sample lesson, model openings to evaluate, exercises on using a range of sentence types and paragraph formats, a range of different questions to plan and a group carousel writing task to end the session. All resources are included and can be previewed.

Suitable for any GCSE board (but based on the Eduqas specification). This resource is fully differentiated with grade and through the element of choice for the students and introduces them to the 3 main periods of Western classical music - Baroque, Classical and Romantic. The learning journey can be used for at least 2 lessons (and as part of a homework task) and allows the teacher to be facilitator in the lesson as all resources and answers are attached. The attached PP also encourages students to reflect on their progress and choose a task which suits this. Tasks include categorising the style of audio files, research orchestral instruments of the period, completing a glossary and annotating music scores. Each task allows students to get fresh composition ideas and add to their notes for revision.

Based on the Eduqas GCSE Music specification - a detailed lesson activity that focuses on recognising classical structures through listening and using the score. This then develops into understanding how contrast is achieved in classical structures through analysis of each piece. Scores and a worksheet are attached.

Higher grade questions require students to analyse and evaluate the musical facts in order to answer questions on context as well (in preparation for AO4 on the essay). Ideal for revision lesson, homework or a cover lesson. Answers are provided.

A selection of resources to support in teaching analysis of the 3rd movement of Brahms’ Piano Quintet in F minor. A powerpoint with questions for students of all features is available with differentiation throughout. Homework tasks are included as well as examples of essay questions regarding chamber music and how to structure them. A summary sheet of Brahms’ themes are included and a completed factfile of all key facts relating to musical elements.

Resources used to introduce rhythm to GCSE students (could be used with year 9 key stage 3). This includes performance, composition and listening all based around rhythm skills only - with a short introduction to structure and texture. This can then be extended to look at melody. All resources are differentiated with set tasks for different levels of students and begins with writing rhythms, developing them using specific development methods, performing a rhythmic piece as an ensemble and then composing a similar piece in groups. Homework individual composition is also attached as well as a feedback lesson.
