A quotation revision game for Macbeth and A Christmas Carol. There are 98 key quotations on the board (49 from each text). To advance, students roll the dice and must explain the quotation. This is a follow up to my other game which reverses the process and prompts students to think of the quotations. Currently in A4 but you may wish to enlarge it to A3.

A handy worksheet to revise 50 carefully selected key quotations from Macbeth. Task 1: Write a brief summary of each quotation. Task 2: Colour code it by linking it to one of the 4 main themes. Task 3: Identify a language feature in each quotation. Worksheet 2: Match the quotations to the explanations. Also contains an alternative version covering 100 quotations for students who think would benefit from having a bigger choice to revise from.

A document with a summary of the Killer Queen set work on just over 2 sides of A4 with the main features students need to know for the exam (this is in prose). There are 20 differentiated questions where answers can be found in the text. Lower grade questions ask students to recall musical facts. Higher grade questions require students to analyse and evaluate the musical facts in order to answer questions on context as well (in preparation for AO4 on the essay). Ideal for revision lesson, homework or a cover lesson. Answers are provided.

A scheme of learning based on the Edexcel GCSE Music set work ‘Music for a While’ by Purcell. These worksheets are based on Flip learning - students do the work at home/independently (this could be to learn the piece or as a revision tool). They then are tested on their knowledge and their score dictates whether they need extra support from the teacher. The set work is split into 4 sections. Each worksheet has differentiated success criteria and all key words are underlined. There is then a test which summarises each section which can be used as a starter or plenary activity and should then dictate whether students know the set work or not. THere is an answer sheet for each question. Following this activity students should also have a fully annotated Purcell score.

Effective for building skills in answering the 8 mark Question 2 on AQA English Language Paper 1. Uses 3 short extracts from Chapter 5 of Frankenstein to practise writing 3 answers to Q2 - commenting on language. Each short extract has animated annotations to talk through. There are also model paragraphs for students to peer assess. Includes success criteria.

Lesson guides students through an exam question on Piggy. Aimed at students with a target grade of 7-9. Includes help with writing a thesis style introduction and an exemplar. For the main body there are a selection of quotes students can pick to support a specific idea that links back to the thesis. There is also an exemplar conclusion.

Use the revision cards to test yourself on 4 key quotations for each of the 6 main characters. There are also a list of key adjectives to describe each character.

Cards for performing, composing and appraising which can be used by students at KS2 and 3 to further stretch and challenge them in lessons. Usually printed on 3 different coloured cards, they can be selected by students when completing any work and they should be able to link the extra challenge to what they are completing.

A pack of 4 sheets which describe each section of the Eduqas GCSE Set Work Since You Been Gone. All features of the set works are included so students can annotate their scores. There is also a short test (with answers) to be completed after each sheet is completed so you can test their understanding. Each sheet has graded success criteria as well as extra tasks e.g. notating chord patterns to ensure students can apply their knowledge.

Cards linking to listening, appraising or understanding music which can be used to push the best students when completing a task. They should select a card (which are general so can suit any scheme of work) and complete it on the graffiti sheet provided. Often this makes students think differently or makes them extend their other musical skills other than simply performance or composition.

A series of 4 lessons which explores the rooms of the Titanic through music. Students are introduced to the upper deck, casino, engine room and ballroom for which they must create the music. There are differentiated success criteria (4 levels of differentiation) and a glossary describing all of the music terminology in the success criteria. A pp with room descriptions and tasks is also included.

Differentiated resources which aid students in developing the texture of an original idea. This was originally used over 3 lessons with a sixth form class but could also be used with GCSE students. Students must firstly define texture development methods (definitions provided). They must then identify how this looks by using musical examples. The gold task then asks students to apply at least one method to their own composition. All worksheets are in word so they can be further adapted in order to differentiate for your students.

4 tasks to help students prepare for a descriptive piece of writing based on an image of ‘Hitler in Hell’.

I created this resource because students said they were getting confused over the different historical contexts of the texts we are studying. This is useful if you are studying the following combination of texts for English Literature: Romeo and Juliet A Christmas Carol An Inspector Calls Alternatively, the concept can be adapted if you are studying a different combination of texts.
