I have used this resource with my year 2 group of Expected/Working At and Greater Depth/Working Above readers to introduce them to reading chapter books. The children have really enjoyed the tasks. The children call this their ‘selfie questions’ as they answer them independently after reading in pairs.
This resource contains planning for the entire book. Each session is based on 10 pages from the book. The questions cover a range of different types including retrieval, inference, prediction and clarification and each ‘selfie’ sheet has two extension tasks. This resource pack also includes my introduction lesson where the children use their prediction skills to explain what they thought the story would include, a recount of the story lesson and the summary lesson after completing the book to create their own book review.
This is a resource which could also be used with Year 3 readers as well
This is a fun RE assembly for year 1 in the spring term. It has a catchy song (with youtube links). It covers, what is buddhism, what is Vesak, how people celebrate Vesak and the life of Buddha. It has a poem written by children as well.
There are so many opportunities for fun acting and miming in this script too depending on the ability of your class.
Hopefully it saves you some time for planning your own assemblies

This is a resource I use in my own KS1 classroom and is really useful when forming and extending questioning sentences and supporting questioning language used by my students.
7 key question words. Simply print, cut out and display. This resource is ideal for ECT’s needing to decorate a classroom.
