Lesson 1- Children describe Paddington Bear using expanded noun phrases. Lesson 2 - Children watch clip where PB meets the Brown family. They write sentences about this using connectives. Lesson 3 - Children watch the clip where PB eats in the station cafe. They write sentences using a question and an exclamation, as well as connectives. Lesson 4 - Children watch the clip of PB in the bathroom. Again, they write sentences using a question and an exclamation, as well as connectives. The PPT (or alternatively Notebook file) provides teaching and practice activities. There are links to the YouTube promotional clips for the first Paddington film. Learning objectives and checklists are also provided for each lesson. These enable children to proofread their own or a partner’s work. Small pictures are provided which can be printed out for children to use who need additional help. They can be stuck down one side of the page and children can write sentences next to them. Loads of activities for the whole school which can be used for a French day or for added cultural understanding. Children learn a language by hearing first, so there are lots of games included where they have to listen to instructions and then act on them. There is a whole sheet of these which can be used outside for PE or in the hall or some around a table in the classroom. Children watch the PPT or Smart board presentation showing pictures of a day out at the beach. They talk about what they take with them, their picnic lunch, what they do at the beach and what they buy at the shop. They do this orally, or on whiteboards, using the picture prompts, thinking carefully about where the commas should go. They then write a paragraph describing the day out, using the given sentence openers. There is a check list to help them to remember to use commas correctly. Finally, they could go on to write a descriptive paragraph about another day out using commas in a similar way, such as a day at the zoo, or a visit to a big city. Fully editable. A jungle safari word mat to aid creative writing with pictures and useful vocabulary. Aim - to help stimulate children's imaginations so they can write more independently and to increase their vocabulary. The second one is to aid a piece of non-fiction writing. Children write about what objects they would take on a jungle safari, describing each and explaining why they would take it. Challenge them to use vocabulary from each box for each object. Children are shown a space themed recount which they analyse, looking for key features on their checklists. These are then shown on the presentation (either ppt or Smart notebook). They then plan a recount - Journey to Planet Zog, on recount planning sheet. They have picture prompts to help with ideas. In a further lesson they write another recount - Exploring Planet Zog. A ppt or Smartboard presentation to help children to sequence sentences. First they describe a spooky house with help from the pictures. Then what happens when they go to the spooky house? What do they see first? Who do the eyes belong to? New eyes appear. Who do they belong to? The children first tell the story orally, then they write down their own accounts. Loads of activities children can work through on their own using the word book. They check the spellings of animal names in the dictionary, learn to spell the days of the week and months of the year, learn body words and story characters etc. I found that they really enjoyed doing these e.g. when they had finished their work, and they were learning all the time! 2 separate Pirate Adventure word mats - one suitable for KS1 & the other for KS2. These story mats are designed to spark off ideas in children and to give them more confidence to write independently. Two apostrophe practice sheets on PPT pages. The children use the pictures to generate their own sentences, using apostrophes. One page is singular apostrophes, the other plural. These can be shown to the whole class, but can also be printed out and laminated or photocopied. They can be used by children independently in small groups (such as in group reading time) to practise using apostrophes once they have been taught them. They are fully editable. Children revise these letters by writing a story. They look at the pictures together on the PPT or Smart notebook and talk about them. What are the children doing? Why? Whose birthday is it? etc. What is this? A red van etc. Children then write their own stories using the given writing frame, choosing what is in the box delivered etc. They cut out pictures and stick them in the appropriate places and write in the missing words. Each of their stories will be different, or you can just do it on the whiteboard or individual boards as a revision lesson. Originally made for a small group children who needed more help.
