New AQA GCSE Biology 9-1 Specification, printable active revision card activities. All content in here so suitable for individual sciences, trilogy, higher or foundation. My particular version is aimed at single science higher tier, can be easily adapted to suit your trilogy or foundation students.
I have grouped together all topics 1 to 7 active revision card activities, to give a great value complete revision pack for the entire GCSE content for students. Helpful for teachers as guidance to the specification. The largest topics were produced in two parts, giving you a total of 10 documents in your bundle, each part is being offered separately. Students are welcome to buy directly to help with their own revision, can help to understand the content a little easier - use together with your class notes and revision guide.
Teachers - help your lessons along to outstanding, I have seen very quick progress in my own students since I started using this format, students love them and are very willing to try. They are so useful and versatile, - revision cards, starters or plenaries, support mats, instructional material in the flipped classroom.
Useful for students to use for revision, and for teachers to use in a lesson as an activity or plenary.
Includes a 'Do' and 'Review' slide, the 'Do' will check understanding and make the learning more active, the 'Review' can help students check answers and act as a revision card.
Anaerobic Respiration and Respiratory Quotients Double Lesson
Learning intention: To describe the process of anaerobic respiration and the use and interpretation of the respiratory quotient
Works well in flipped learning or by a traditional method.
This was written to meet the OCR A specification but looks like it would meet the requirements of other exam boards or could be easily tweaked.
Resources include take away active revision cards for students, which double up as sources of information and can be issued the lesson prior to turn into a flipped learning environment - they read all the information they need, then spend the lesson learning it further/ applying it/ using it.
Includes activities for students to learn and demontrate progress.
New AQA GCSE Biology 9-1 specification. Topic 4 Bioenergetics. Covers all of the theory topics, photosynthesis, limiting factors, rate of photosynthesis, respiration aerobic/anaerobic, exercise, metabolism.
Useful for students to use for revision, and for teachers to use in a lesson as an activity or plenary. Good instructional material for a flipped classroom.
Includes a 'Do' and 'Review' slide, the 'Do' will check understanding and make the learning more active, the 'Review' can help students check answers and act as a revision card. Equally works well as a starter for the next lesson to check retention. Many uses e.g. support mats, starter, plenary, revision etc.
Aerobic respiration - covers Glycolysis, Link Reaction, Krebs Cycle, Oxidative Phosphorylation. Useful for students to use for revision, teachers to use in a lesson as an activity or plenary or to issue as revision cards to support students.
Includes 'Do' and 'Review' slides, the 'Do' will check understanding and make the learning more active, the 'Review' can help students check answers and act as a revision card.
Use in a flipped classroom situation as an instructional sheet, as homework in the lesson prior.
Please note that you require the free tarsia software to open these documents, they will not open in other programmes. If you require help please email me.
New AQA GCSE Biology 9-1 specification. Four tarsia activity puzzle documents included - I have produced two versions of each (both included in the zip file - total 8 documents). One version is ideal for trilogy, and another (named triple) ideal for biology as a single science. Both are aimed at higher tier candidates, you can adapted to suit foundation tier students if required.
Covers the topics; cells, organisation, infection, bioenergetics. Each tarsia produces a different shape, there is one domino, one triangle, a rhombus and a standard parallelogram. The triple version includes the part of the topic for biology only and is slightly more difficult as there are questions around the edges/ or bigger version of the puzzle.
My students have loved these activities, they are fun to work on in pairs, they guide the students to revise the particular key words etc that I know they will need to recall, and used together with my support mats (a large print out of my active revision card activities), the students can look up anything they are unsure of (they can quickly go over the content again).
OR a useful marking free homework - at a glance check the student have correct shape, can be peer marked by posting up the solution on the board.
You will require the free tarsia software downloaded to your computer, simply google it and install, if you would like on your school computer your computer technicians should be happy to help.
