These cards can be used in a variety of ways!
fast finishers
morning starters
learning how to use a thesaurus
Through using these cards, children are encouraged to think of synonyms of the word printed in large font. Children can work with one another to come up with different synonyms to help them expand their vocabulary.
Suggestions for use:
This resource could be laminated or placed inside a clear board and be used with a whiteboard pen. It can be used with any text. Pupils can work on this individually, with other children, or can be completed as a whole class!
Background: The 3 Sharings was developed by Aidan Chambers in 1994 to help learners explore different texts more deeply. You can use the 3 Sharings with a class novel, children’s reading books or as a way for children to review/suggest texts to one another.
Whilst/after reading a text, children can share their:
Likes and Dislikes: what parts of the texts did the child (not) enjoy and why?
Puzzles: what was difficult to understand? What would the child like to know more about?
Connections: how does the relate to what the child already knows? What connections can they make to their life, the life of others, the world or other texts?
