A fun way to get children practising some mental maths. A set of 20 Easter eggs to laminate and hide around the classroom. Each egg is linked with an arithmetic question. When children find the egg, they can work in pairs to solve the question and record it on the included recording sheet. Answer sheet also included.
Children use their mathematical understanding of shape to generate as many different ways of organising 5 squares. They are asked by a building company to find all the different ways of laying out 5 rooms for a new block of flats. Fits in well with ‘Houses’ topic in Geography. A seasonal themed investigation to model how to think logically to solve a problem. Children must work with groups of eggs to make up the target number. They are encouraged to work systematically to find the answer. This lesson includes a comprehensive flipchart and lesson plan with a photocopy sheet.
An exciting Maths investigation based on the book 'The Lorax' by Dr Seuss. This lesson explores the possible colour combinations that can be created by joining different coloured tufts to the trunks of the Truffula trees. This is a complete lesson with flipchart, lesson plan, recording sheet and photocopy sheet for children to make the combinations before recording them. Children are extended to explain how they solved the problem and consider what they would need to do in a new colour is added.
