This is one of a series of short reading passages written for Lower KS2. It is followed by a mini- comprehension task where pupils have to choose which of three statements is true . There is a SPaG exercise linked to the passage. The final activity is extended writing. The text is a bit PC - no plastic in costumes, and no traipsing around streets threatening old folk or begging for sweets!

For KS1 and lower KS2. Many children forget about capital letters at the beginning of sentences when they are concentrating on the ideas in their writing, or simply trying to write quickly. This presentation is simply a reminder - with examples - of the rules. The examples are introduced one by one, so could be used by teachers as a written exercise, dictating each sentence before showing it on screen.

More than a single lesson starter - I would focus on one slide a day and build it into a unit of work over a week or so. The complete presentation could also be used as a revision session.

For complete beginners who are learning to read French. A two slide presentation where pupils have to spot words with silent 'e' endings and write them down. Good for a quick starter.

Four Hot Potatoes vocabulary activities: proverbs, opposites, odd one out and similes. Probably best suited to upper KS2 or KS3.

Many students are not aware of the difference that acute and grave accents make to pronunciation. This resource was created to help remedy that.
