A table for students to complete which scaffolds an essay about the presentation of Scrooge in Staves 1 and 2. An answer sheet for the teacher is included.

A KS3 Scheme of Work to cover Aristotle’s three strands of rhetoric. This was originally designed for Year 9 but has since been used with Years 7 and 8 as well. Each lesson goes through a famous speech and analyses in relation to ethos, pathos and logos. Lessons are fully-resourced and easy for the teacher to follow.

A lesson to scaffold an answer to AQA Paper 1, Question 5 (creative writing). It begins with a slide to prepare for AO6 (punctuation and grammar). There is a slide of different methods to help students to make create an original answer. The PowerPoint then talks through how to plan and write an answer. Finally, there is an alternative picture. (The lesson was designed initially for 1 lesson, but the final slide could extend into 2.) A model answer is included also.

Designed for Year 7 (but adaptable), the lesson is about introducing students to What/How/Why - or PEE). Students need to match up 3 PEE burgers and then write their own paragraph.

A Scheme of Work studying Steven Spielberg’s film ‘Minority Report’. This was taught to a middle-ability Year 10 group. Things covered include: -Understanding of plot, -Understanding of character, -Analysis of individual scenes including mise-en-scene, costume, lighting, camera angles and shots, -A model essay, -A scaffolded coursework essay outline -Teacher versions of student sheets.

A detailed lesson that guides students through writing an essay on Act 1 of ‘Macbeth’. It is an extract-question, focusing on when Macbeth considers murdering Duncan. It provides a step-by-step guide to answering the question. This includes: -A detailed PowerPoint -A detailed worksheet to scaffold students’ work. -A differentiated version of the above worksheet. -A “step by step” overview sheet that could be adapted to different essays.
