These colorful activities can be used as test prep, morning work, warm ups, and end-of-year grammar evaluation. The digital resource packet also can be used for Montessori grammar and ESL students. This worksheet pack has students practice many misused homonyms. Doodle boxes have been included on each sheet to help ADHD and other easily distracted students. These activities can be used as a supplement, homework, small group work, whole group instruction, test prep, review, etc.
After each question, students are asked to create their own doodles in the labeled box to the side, making grammar more fun than normal, and utilizing more areas of the brain for longer retention. Students are asked to help their mayor correct the signs on Main Street. They are given eleven different signs with errors, and they must use their knowledge of grammar to fix them. Complete set of cards (72 in total) to use to learn vocabulary affixes (prefixes, base words, and suffixes). Contains a set of word parts different from Vocabulary Go Fish Card Game Set #1 and #2. Students try to make sets of pairs by matching a vocabulary word with its meaning. In order to do so, they have to reinforce their knowledge by requesting that match from another player.
Game meant for 3 - 6 players, so it works well in small groups. A word list is included so that students will have a reference if needed.
This lesson explains the process of breaking words into parts to identify meaning. It gives several examples, including breaking down the longest word in the English language to derive a definition. Next, it introduces eight common roots and goes through several activities to help students memorize these. First, it asks learners to break down a few familiar words for meaning. Next, students are asked to draw the meanings as a mnemonic device. Then, students are given a list of words that use these roots and asked to write a paragraph using as many of those words as possible. Finally, there is a short matching quiz followed by a review of the entire lesson.
This packet is great for introducing a vocabulary unit. Also good for morning work, homework, independent practice, test review/prep, enrichment, and remediation.
I designed this lesson with my GED students in mind. The Science and Social Studies vocabulary are often challenging, and this lesson can help learners begin to see large words as a puzzle to solve, helping to reduce test anxiety.
Finally, it makes learning vocabulary fun! Students are asked to solve the mystery of the new word with activities that ask them to use different parts of the brain, even their own artistic talents!

This grammar packets contains 30 exercises for students to complete using subordinating conjunctions. Fifteen of these conjunctions are used, and students are able to practice knowing when a comma is needed and when it is not by filling in the blanks. Each pair of sentences uses the selected subordinating conjunction twice, once with it at the beginning of the sentence, and again in the middle. When a sentence begins with the selected word, a comma is placed in the middle of the sentence indicating that there will need to be separation between the independent and dependent clauses. On the other hand, no comma is included when the word is placed in the middle of the sentence.
This is a great activity to use on a unit on commas, on introductory clauses or on subordinating conjunctions only. Product is excellent for homework practice, independent practice, remediation, acceleration, test prep, or review. Answer key with sample sentences is included.
