A complete lesson covering sections 5.4.3 and 5.4.4 of the OCR Physics specification- gravitational potential and planetary motion. The lesson starts by introducing gravitational potential including the various calculations. It then looks at GPE and how this can be calculated covering the fact that at GCSE students calculated changes in GPE rather than absolute values which are negative. It then looks at changes in gravitational potential and how these can be determined mathematically and graphically. The lesson then moves onto escape velocity and satellites before introducing Kepler’s three laws. The lesson includes lots of independent student tasks including practicing deriving the planetary motion equations. All answers are included I always aim to reduce photocopying so all tasks are within the PPT- 41 slides in total

A complete lesson covering sections 5.5.1e and 5.5.3 a-k of the OCR Physics specification- stellar radiation and luminosity and stellar spectrum. It starts by looking at the way that objects produce electromagnetic radiation and the link to temperature. It then looks at Wien’s displacement law and Stefan’s law including calculations and comparisons of luminosity and temperature. It then move son to look at spectra and how electrons produce photons of light after being excited. It then closes by looking at the difference between emission and absorption spectrum and how they can be sued to analyse stars. The lesson starts by recapping addition polymerisation for year 12. It then introduces condensation polymers. The lesson then goes through the formation of polyamides and polyesters using either one monomer or two. The lesson includes multiple opportunities for students to independently practice. The lesson then covers the hydrolysis of polymers to return to the original monomers. The final part of the lesson is practice at working out the original monomer using a digram of the original polymer.
