Egyptian Adventure Story on Smartboard

Egyptian Adventure Story on Smartboard

(21)
In the style of Pie Corbett I have created a simple story, in five paragraphs, for the children to learn off by heart by adding their own actions. Create a picture map to help remember it (There is an example on the Smartboard of one). Then the children 'hug&' the text by using the story from the sheet to write their own version by changing names and key words (the words to change are underlined and there are gaps for them to add their own words.) I have created a separate resource where they write their own adventure story from scratch, which follows on from this.

Ancient Egypt instructions for mummification

(24)
Here are some detailed instructions, with pictures, to show how the Ancient Egyptians would have mummified a body. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK!Use to help explain this process to children. You can chop up the instructions without numbers on and they can re order them. Pretend they are embalmers and do some drama where they imagine following these steps to mummify a body! They can do it in pairs! The children really enjoy this, especially pretending to put make up on the mummy! They could write their own instructions once they are familiar with the process.

Two will be the news reporters and one will be the eye witness monk. There is an example report to read as a class.

Create your own Blitz poem+ drama activity WWII

You need to have Smart board software to access this lesson as it is all on the slides. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK! There is a drama activity first where the children act out what they would do if there was an air raid. There are sound effects to play as they do this. Make the classroom as dark as possible. Then there is a structured poem that they can create based on their experiences and what they heard.

There are two levels of work and a plan. There is a Smart board too but you don't need it. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK!The children draw a true/false chart in their books and have to cut and work out which reasons are true and which are false. Ask them to let you check whether they are correct before sticking down.

Children work in groups of 3 with one worksheet to record ideas. Rotate the pictures round, one for each group. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK!I had a replica coin and necklace as well. The children have to guess what they were for-some are easier that others. Use the Smartboard to reveal what the pictures are of at the end.

There is a lesson plan to follow. The children read the first hand accounts of real evacuees and have to sort them into positive or negative experiences. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK! They can highlight the words that tell them whether the experience was good and bad. They can order them from most negative to most positive. Finally they can take a scene from one of the accounts and illustrate it with speech bubbles.

Victorians Queen Victoria SB and matching activity

(1)
Use the SB to briefly introduce Queen Victoria. Prior to the lesson sort out a set of photos/pictures for each group with the writing underneath the picture cut out so they do not know which photo and description go to together, Then hand out a set of the pictures and descriptions to each group and see which group can match each picture to its description first. This way they can find out more about her without the teacher telling them everything!

2 SB lessons on how people hid/saved Jews in WWII

(0)
This focuses on the non-Jews who helped to save Jewish people in the war. These are some of the unsung heroes of World War II who stood up for what was right. The first lesson looks at the concept of hiding and why people hid. The second lesson looks at heroes who are not well known but who saved many Jewish men, women and children. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK.

Titanic Smartboard lesson 1 primary source

This lesson introduces the children to the 'Titanic&' disaster. First it asks them to discuss what they already know, then it looks at &';The Daily Mail' cover from the time and they have to create a list of questions they would ask if they had seen this at the time. Then they have to read it (the newspaper article is available online). I had a copy of the actual paper to photocopy and give out. Tell them they can now find the answers. They will soon realise when reading the article that the information is completely inaccurate and this should create an interesting discussion.
