Lesson starter asks students to write down a funny story that is either truth or a lie. The teacher then collects these in and returns to them for the plenary. The main part of the lesson involves students been allocated a topic and having to work with others to gather information about that topic to eventually present their findings.

Students are asked to find different ‘pieces’ of a gothic story (for example: characters, setting, curses, colours, lighting, weather etc) - these will be stuck around the room before the lesson begins.
