Practical equipment required (one between two):
- Pointed forceps
- Petri dish filled with 20 white paper dots and 20 newsprint dots (can be done with a hole punch)
- Sheet plain A3 paper
- Sheet newspaper
- Stopwatch
Lesson plan and activities based around dinosaur extinction theories. Students look at a number of theories, summarise them and then prepare an argument as to which theory they believe to hold the most weighting. Allows students to develop skills in scientific explanations (in particular justification).
AQA As Biology 2011.
Students copy down definitions as part of a starter activity.
The cardiac cycle is then explained and discussed with the students, as well as pressure and volume changes in the heart (these are marked on the graphs with a red vertical line).
The flipchart exercise was taken from TES from another user (thank you!!). Students also completed a 3-part description of the events of the cardiac cycle (attached).
