A display which has been designed to be printed out as A3 posters to indicate noise levels in the classroom. It is particularly useful when managing group work.
I also cut out and laminated an arrow to use as an indicator, but it is also effective to stand and point as the class teacher.

The idea of cell division is discussed as a starter. Students then look at pre-prepared slides of cells at different stages of division and try to determine the correct order. There is a slide with cells at different stages of division also, if pre-prepared slides are not available. Students attempt to determine the order. The lesson ends with a discussion of the big question.

Lesson and activities on the difference between temperature and heat. Includes simple practical activity with instructions. Includes fun splat plenary task.
Year 7 lesson as an introduction to the concepts of tissues & organs. Students watch the video about the F1 pitstop team as an introduction. Students then copy down the diagram and complete the CLOZE passage. Students are introduced to the location of some of the major organs of the body by completing a cut and stick exercise. I also used a model of the human body to help illustrate this. As a plenary, students vote of true/false questions - could also be done with red/green cards.

Lesson on puberty and adolescence. Students start by identifying changes that have occurred in a celebrity as they have grown into an adult. Students then watch a youtube video on puberty and investigate the changes on the BBC website. Students then arrange the changes that happen to males and females in a venn diagram. Students are given an opportunity to develop their literacy skills by writing an agony aunt reply. The lesson ends with a mini-whiteboard activity.
