A lesson from a scheme of work about world issues. Can be taught prior at KS3 to prepare students for future learning or at GCSE level. This lesson aims to teach students the definitions of prejudice and discrimination, the difference between the two, explores Christian views and the impact of prejudice/discrimination on society. In this lesson students use their learning and apply it to Christian teachings (Parable of the Good Samaritan). The activities in this lesson encourage students to reflect on the impact of prejudice and discrimination.

Designed for GCSE students to learn how to become an Ed Psych. The lesson goes through the application and interview process. All students take part in all steps of the process e.g. writing the personal statement, giving constructive feedback, etc. A fun and engaging series of lessons that are perfect for developing team work skills. Designed to be taught over three lessons, but easily adaptable to less/more.

An opportunity fot students to complete a mid point assessment on the topic Issues of Relationships (new spec Eduqas). Four smaller questions (2 a parts, 2 b parts).

A prepped learning/ homework activity around sexual relationships in preparation for a lesson on sexual relationships (purpose of sex and contraception). Designed for the new spec Eduqas, introduces terms such as promiscuity.

Lesson 6 (final lesson) of a KS3 unit of work about religious journeys. This lesson includes an exciting start activity to link all of the previous lessons. The lesson then included detailed information about the assessment task (creating your own pilgrimage). This assessment is levelled. Can be adapted to suit schools who are not using the levels as each level is showing development of skills. An extension task is included. Designed for one lesson with time to finish for homework, however can be used over two lessons depending on class/lesson time etc.

A introduction lesson to world issues (poverty, prejudice, crime, punishment). This can be taught as part of a mini unit of work prior to GCSE (at KS3) to prepare students for future learning or can be taught at GSCE. See my resources for other lessons (https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/leanaandrews). The lesson aims to teach students about key Christian teachings and how they can be applied/used to help when dealing with world issues. Students will use a range of skills, this lesson focuses on developing interpersonal skills and skills of analysis and investigation. In this lesson students learnt about these four key Christian teachings - the Ten Commandments, the golden rule, the Parable of the Good Samaritan and the Parable of the Lost Son.

A KS3 lesson about the Qur’an from an Islam unit of work. Can also be taught as part of a unit of work on sacred texts or as a stand alone lesson. The aim of this lesson is teach students what the Qur’an is, its importance, how it is used and make comparisons to other sacred texts. There are lots of opportunities for students to become involved in the lesson e.g. reading, discussion, sharing learning. This lesson uses the Sue Penney ISLAM TEXTBOOKS, however you can use other textbooks with information about the Qur’an or information from online (i.e. BBC learning zone). The aim of this task is to introduce what the Qur’an is, its importance and how it is used. Additional note: This lesson can be taught at KS2 to older students. It may need adapting to suit the ability of the class.

GCSE Psychology lesson for the Edexcel spec. This lesson explores key information about the study and breaks the study down in to manageable sections. Students also have the opportunity to complete the Buss-Perry Questionnaire (downloaded from the internet, but I have attached it so you don't have to search for it separately). The questionnaire allows students to activity learn and understand how psychologists complete research. This lesson was originally taught as two 50 minute lessons but can be adapted to teach in one lesson.

A new spec EDUQAS lesson from component 1 Christianity. This lesson focuses on Christianity in Britain and the Church in the community. It explores the issues of religion on the decline and how the Church is still very relevant in our modern society. You will need the Eduqas textbooks for one activity.

A KS3 Sikhism lesson about the Gurdwara. Can be purshased as part of a bundle. The lesson has a variety of activities that are differentiated for studnets. The main activities provide challenge. There lots of opportunities for discussion. The clip is a True Tube clip. Lesson can be adapted and amended to suit, but can be taught as it is.

BTEC Applied Law lesson for level 3 students. This is a powerpoint that explains the law surrounding criminal damage. This resource is ideal for lower ability students or to introduce the concept of criminal damage. There are examples to the names of case law in order to support the points.

A KS3 Sikhism lesson teaching students about the Sikh Gurus. This lesson aims to describe key teachings of the Sikh Gurus, explain how the Gurus taught these and explain how a Sikh can apply these teachings. There is a running focus within this lesson of courage, trust and equality. Students are required to learn the definitions of these words through a dictionary task. The main task is a group work task where students read stories about the Gurus and complete a task.

Lesson 1 of a KS3 religious journeys unit of work. This lesson aims to introduce what a journey is and how life can be a journey. The main focus is students exploring their own journey and what their future aspirations are. The main activity is a fun and engaging activity with cross curricular links. This lesson is ideal for all abilities with levelled tasks. It is a KS3 unit of work that links to GCSE topics on pilgrimage and religious expression. Could be used for older primary school students.

This is a lesson from the new spec EDUQAS Component 1 Christianity. The lesson explores the worldwide Church and the key terms evangelism, misssion and reconciliation. There is also a focus on the charity Tearfund, including a 5 mark practice question. You will need the textbooks for one activity.

A new spec Eduqas lesson from the topic Issues of Life and Death. This lesson deals with the sensitive issue of euthanasia. There are many opportunities for discussion and questioning. The lesson offers level of challenge in terms of giving view points and understanding these. The next lesson focuses on the Christian view points (see my shop).

A lesson teaching students about poverty. Can be taught at KS3 or GCSE level as part of a world issues scheme of work (see my other resources - https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/leanaandrews) or as a stand alone lesson. This lesson aims to teach students about what poverty is, causes of poverty, the affects it can have and if it can be eradicated. The lesson explores Christian views and Christian charities as a response to poverty. Students have to show team work skills in the lesson and emphasis is also placed on sharing views/opinions.

A GCSE Lesson about ethics in psychological research. The lessons aims to teach students about the ethical guidelines all researchers must follow when conducting research. The two main activities are a research task (use of computers if possible) and a create your own study task. Students will also explore Zimbardo's study as an example of unethical research.

GCSE lessons on Bandura. These lessons introduce the study - its aims, hypothesis, methods and results. There is also an evaluation task that requires students to draw on previous learning. A variety of activities (e.g. word fill, discussion, sorting) and lots of opportunities for progress checking (e.g. true/false, post its). This lesson can be taught as two but condensed down in to one lesson if needed. These can follow on from lessons about Social Learning Theory (see my resources).

BTEC Applied Law for level 3 student. The presentations are aimed to provide students with knowledge of the law surrounding theft, robbery and burglary. Examples of case law are included in all elements of each crime. This allows students to understand the law through the use of real life examples.

KS3 Sikhism lesson about Guru Nanak. This lesson is ideal as an introduction to Sikhism lesson as part of a unit of work, or as a stand alone lesson. The lesson introduces Guru Nanak as the founder of Sikhism. Tasks teach students about key events in Guru Nanak's life and the important teachings from Guru Nanak. The lesson ends with a comparison between Guru Nanak and Jesus (using a Venn diagram), this aims to stretch higher level students. There is a homework task attached to this lesson.
