This is a Power Point that can be used to complete a ‘walking, talking mock’ with your students. It should be used alongside the exam paper and mark scheme that can be found on the Edexcel website. Questions and activities are planned out to support student recall. Some answers are modeled to promote class discussion around skills.

These are all aimed at the study of component 3 including categories of factors, the impact of lifestyle choices and nature vs nurture. For students starting the course, work book 1 may be more suitable.

This is a set of three lessons that have been created to be used for video call teaching rather than in the classroom during school closures. The lessons are less interactive and give more time for teacher talk so that they can be taught over Teams/ Zoom etc. The lessons include a takeaway/ homework task in each. Hi, Do you need some help with setting up your BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care? New to BTEC and not quite sure how to structure your course? Do you feel unsure about assessment? I am now offering a support package for teachers who are new to the course. I am the head of a large faculty that has a specialism in a range of vocational qualifications and have enjoyed successes with BTEC for the last 9 years. I have the highest progress 8 scores within my school and 100% of my students achieve target or above in Health and Social Care. The support package entitles you to email support for two weeks (allowing 2 working days for a response) or a 45 minute video call. A maximum of 5 documents can be checked during this time e.g. assessment plan, assignment brief, IV documentation. Please note that only 1 assignment can be IV’d within the maximum of 5 documents. A lesson which covers a number of health and social care job roles and how they contribute to the response to Coronavirus. I have planned this to teach to the students who will be remaining in school during the closures but it could also be set as a task for students who are at the start of their health and social care study. The lesson therefore doesn’t meet a scheme of learning but will be a good discussion opportunity. Lessons are differentiated by outcome and may need further differentiation by resource depending on your student group. I have tried to keep it simple at this point so that it can be adapted to different year groups.
