Edexcel ALevel Core Values of Socialism for Politics This lesson examines the core values underpinning Socialism as an ideology with some links to key thinkers and examples. Lesson 2 of my Socialism unit for Alevel. This lesson includes a range of resources including video clips to demonstrate the key ideas. This lessons should take 2-4 hours depending if you get students to do the Core Values independently and then go over it all to explain it after wards. I use both the Heywood and Pearson book for doing Core Values to give students for reading but if you have neither- a detailed summary of all ideas is contained on these slides.

OCR ALevel History Russia 1894-1941 Topic 2: Towards a Constitutional Monarchy. This two hour lesson examines the creation of the Duma from the October Manifesto and the limits of the Fundamental laws. Also examines the challenges of the Duma and the makeup of them and why Nicholas dissolved them each time. Includes detailed information and all resources needed if you do not have textbook pages from Corin and Fiehn- I have typed up all necessary info onto documents to accompany the lesson.

OCR Alevel Tudor Rebellions -The Tyrone Rebellion Irish History the 9 Years War Rebellion and Disorder under the Tudors 1485-1603 This is a depth study and requires lots of detail for the exam as it will be used for an interpretation on one of the key themes -This lesson examines how threatening the Tyrone Rebellion Students use the timeline and all their notes so far to explain threat posed to the government and make a threat “blob” diagram Then work through the slides- includes retrieval practice of content from my previous lessons on causes and nature of the rebellion. Includes a lot of information- suitable for a non specialist/ new to Tudor Rebellions teachers- saves you all the hard work of planning!

Includes a bundle of A*- Level 6 essays for the OCR Tudor Rebellions course. Useful for new teachers wanting to see outstanding practice or students who are intending to apply to Oxbridge or Russell Group universities. These are packed full of examples of rebellions and thematic writing- comparing and contrasting rebellions throughout. Questions included are all 25 mark thematic essays: Evaluate the view that " Tudor government was never seriously threatened by rebellion". Evaluate the view that “Rebellions led by the Nobility were the most successful” Evaluate the view that “Dynastic rebellions were the most threatening” Assess the reasons why some rebellions attracted more support than others. This introductory lesson looks at the context of WWI and the new advances in weaponry as well as the key Battles of WWI. Very developed and detailed resources for students including video clips of documentaries about battles and key features such as the blood bank at Cambrai, the underground hospital at Arras etc. Examines the nature of Trench warfare and Attritional warfare as well as tactics such as Creeping Barrage to minimise injuries in the battles.

Improved lesson on Federalism and the debates around it looking at Presidents since 2000. For the Edexcel Politics Alevel spec Topic 1 Constitution- addresses the debates around Federalism and the US Constitution Includes essay planning sheet and all resources as well as all up to date examples including President Biden and Dobbs v Women’s Board of Health. These quizzes are for Edexcel but they will also work for AQA for the most part (minor tweaks only). They are thematic- 20 questions per theme with a separate 20 questions on the case studies. (Care and Treatment is huge so this has 22) The questions/ answers are also all in chronological order to help support the building of a narrative of change over time. They are based on the WASIIC factors we use to explain reasons for change/ continuity (War, Attitudes, Science and TEch, Institutions, Individuals and Chance). Box for self evaluation at the bottom. We use these to check how well students are revising- we set them themes to revise each week then quiz them in class in test conditions. They can be peer marked to save time and you still get the results to put in your mark book if you need.

Edexcel GCSE lesson for Weimar and Nazi Germany- can be adapted for AQA or iGCSE Could also be used for ALevel as a base to build up. Lesson examining the impact of the Enabling Act and the Night of the Long Knives and how Hitler consolidated and strengthened his position to make himself a dictator The lesson begins with a consolidation/ recap of Hitler becoming Chancellor and the Reichstag Fire decree/ impact. Then it looks at how Hitler used the Enabling Act to attack trade unions and political parties before his purge of political enemies and the SA. Also includes a practice of a “how useful source” Question (although with just one source to save time- includes a model answer highlighting task for a cartoon source. Looks at how and why the Night of the Long Knives happened in 1934 and the Death of Hindenburg which enabled Hitler to name himself Fuhrer Very detailed, complete lesson- no additional resources are needed. Also includes a bonus video sheet for the Rise of the Nazis Episode 3 (BBC) but obviously I cannot include the video for copyright- however if you don’t have access it doesn’t matter- you can use a documentary on youtube or just use the slides.

Edexcel Politics ALevel : USA Politics Can also be used for AQA or for US civics lessons. Complete lesson; fully resourced on Oversight of the Executive Branch and how effectively Congress performs this function. Lesson 4 in my Congress topic and Lesson 3 of the functions of Congress run of lessons (previously covered Legislation and Representation). All resources included- no need for textbooks or anything else, all examples included up to and including President Biden within the slides/ documents.

Edexcel ALevel Politics Lesson to compare Congress and Parliament (actually about 2 hours work plus hwk). Does not require textbooks or any additional resources but secure knowledge is important however if you have used my lessons preceding this one, you will have all the knowledge you need! Includes all of the info- but knowledge/ understanding will be important in case of student questions. Includes discussion task, comparative highlighting tasks and analysis tasks,

Edexcel ALevel Politics spec but can be used for AQA as very similar. Lesson examining and analysing compartive Politics looking at various aspects of USA President and UK Prime Ministers including: -Role and Powers -Cabinets -Accountability to Legislatures/ Checks and balances -Styles of Government -RElationships between branches Also includes updated examples as of January 2024 including James Cleverly controversies and attempts to impeach Biden in US House due to increasing partisanship Includes little video clips to demonstrate examples or show comparisons and a full breakdown of the comparative theories for this topic. Includes a colour code to help students get used to understanding the different theories and how to apply them. Very detailed and no need for any additional resources although can be set as independent work with textbook but all info is contained within resources so no need to own the Bennett book- if you don’t have it ignore page references in the teacher notes. This lesson has a lot of resources, more than enough for 2 hours of lessons (probably 3 hours if you include video tasks) plus homework and there is a 12 mark exam question for Edexcel included.

Edexcel ALevel Politics Component 3 USA Politics Comparative Topic 4 Supreme Court and Civil Rights This is my Introduction lesson to the Court and key terms e.g. Stare Decisis, Loose/ Strict Constructivism and Originalism. Includes a key profile of the current court for a research homework and how they ruled on key cases e.g. Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Board of Health and New York state rifle assoc. v Bruen which cover key aspects of the divisive issues in the USA today e.g. abortion rights, gun control, voting rights, immigration and campaign finance. All the SCOTUS cases I cover are useful case studies for other topics due to the synoptic nature of the ALevel course, this helps students to join the dots. Edexcel GCSE History 9-1 Weimar and Nazi Germany This lesson looks at the Lean Years following the Munich Putsch and the way in which the Nazis reorganised including the development of new branches of the party e.g. women and young people and the development of the SS as a foil to the SA. Analysis of the roles of Witte and Stolypin for the OCR Russia 1894-1941 ALevel course. Can also be used for other specs and for GCSE if you simplify it further. I made this in response to a 10 mark essay I set: Which of the following was more significant in bringing stability to Russia 1894-1941 Includes a powerpoint recapping and consolidating events of the prior four Dumas and the role of Witte and Stolypin. Includes information and evidence about both as well as a comparative analysis table with arguments about how they both increased and decreased stability with their policies.

Assembly created for schools for remembrance day 2023 This assembly pays tribute to relatively unknown British hero Walter Tull whose family still have not received the medal he was recommended for. The assembly touches on also Arthur Conway whose family left a rare anti-war message on his grave in Tyne Cot cemetery in Belgium. Also briefly touches on (without detail) the ongoing conflicts which rage throughout the world today. Includes a full set of notes to accompany the slides- I always have someone from the student body play the Last Post at the end so there is reference to it however you can remove this. Fully editable.
