History Ofsted Deep Dive Guide

History Ofsted Deep Dive Guide

(0)
Useful for Senior Leadership Links and Heads of Department/ Faculty/ Key Stage. My department recently had a very positive experience in an Ofsted Deep Dive. I have attached some useful materials to help other Heads of Department to support the process and to support their teams in what could be (but doesn’t need to be) a stressful experience. Firstly it is important to know- this is not a quick fix- you cannot pull the wool over their eyes if your department has a lot of work to do. However it is not a problem if you have areas of development as long as you and your team know what they are and you have a plan to address them. Included in the resources: -Powerpoint to present to team on what inspectors are looking for including Aide memoire used by Inspectors and questions we were asked during inspection as well as answers we used. -Curriculum map including rationale behind it -Assessment Map/ Overview -Examples of good practice vocabulary sheets

Medicine Through Time Revision Quizzes- Thematic

(0)
These quizzes are for Edexcel but they will also work for AQA for the most part (minor tweaks only). They are thematic- 20 questions per theme with a separate 20 questions on the case studies. (Care and Treatment is huge so this has 22) The questions/ answers are also all in chronological order to help support the building of a narrative of change over time. They are based on the WASIIC factors we use to explain reasons for change/ continuity (War, Attitudes, Science and TEch, Institutions, Individuals and Chance). Box for self evaluation at the bottom. We use these to check how well students are revising- we set them themes to revise each week then quiz them in class in test conditions. They can be peer marked to save time and you still get the results to put in your mark book if you need.

Also includes a whole section 3a-3d exam questions on women to practice skills and a part modelled “how useful” are these sources question for students to emulate for the next source and some sentence starters to help them to deal with interpretations e.g. “Interpretation 1 argues” In my experience students really struggle with these questions and don’t always know how to handle them and need plenty of modelling.
