An A3 sheet providing students with an overview of the Making of America course for the new AQA GCSE History Course. It includes Key Dates and Key Terms and the types of exam questions that they will have to use.
Bookmarks listing the key dates/events for 2 topics on GCSE History AQA Paper 1 (Conflict and Tension 1918 - 1939 and Germany 1890 - 1945). I get these laminated and students use these throughout the course both in class and at home.
These can easily be adapted for any topics, and can be used in a variety of ways, and parents have commented on how they like to use them with students so that they can support them in their revision/studies.
AQA (9-1) GCSE History - Health and the People - Lesson 5 (Medieval Surgery)
An hour long lesson looking at the impact of Christianity on Medieval England, following the Scheme of Work as set out by AQA textbook. An easy-to-follow lesson which I have tested and used on 4 classes (in Years 9-10 at my school) of mixed ability.
Resources on the powerpoint that can be printed and laminated. Images also used so that students can have a visual image to remind them of key individuals.
AQA (9-1) GCSE History - Health and the People - Lesson 4 (Islamic Medicine)
An hour long lesson looking at the impact of Christianity on Medieval England, following the Scheme of Work as set out by AQA textbook. Includes a short 13 min clip to watch (as recommend by exam board). An easy-to-follow lesson which I have tested and used on 4 classes (in Years 9-10 at my school) of mixed ability.
AQA (9-1) GCSE History - Health and the People - Part 1 Quick Quizzes
At the start of each lesson you will see a 'quick quiz' powerpoint slide. This document can be given to students so that each lesson they know that the start activity is to take this sheet and to answer, in silence, questions relating to the previous lesson. This is a great way to assess prior learning.
Teachers will need access to the Oxford AQA GCSE History Textbook for part of this lesson. A powerpoint and worksheet covering the information as set up by AQA in the specification
AQA (9-1) GCSE History - Health and the People - Lesson 8 (Black Death)
An hour long lesson looking at the impact of Christianity on Medieval England, following the Scheme of Work as set out by AQA textbook. An easy-to-follow lesson which I have tested and used on 4 classes (in Years 9-10 at my school) of mixed ability.
A very short power point. Students use this lesson to independently research the Black Death. Access to computers/laptops essential.
AQA (9-1) GCSE History - Health and the People - Lesson 3 (Impact of Christianity)
An hour long lesson looking at the impact of Christianity on Medieval England, following the Scheme of Work as set out by AQA textbook. An easy-to-follow lesson which I have tested and used on 4 classes (in Years 9-10 at my school) of mixed ability.
The second lesson is used by students watching 'Filthy Cities London'. Link is on the Powerpoint.
An A4 subject knowledge audit which students stick in their books at the start of the Making of America Course. It can easily be adapted to suit your needs, but it covers the course specification.
A knowledge checklist that students stick in the fronts of their books so that they can write down the pages where the information is. This is written following the specification.
A teacher-friendly resource showing the different types of questions asked on Paper 1, advice from the exam board on how to answer these and an exemplar answer given as part of the resources from the Webinar.
A series of exam questions for students to practice exam skills taken from AQA and from the AQA Textbook. I have colour coded these into Part 1, 2, 3 and 4 so that teachers can easily pick questions dependent on how far into teaching the course you are.
