I wrote it to deliver within a young offender setting and it works really well for 15-18 year old learners that are low ability. This is a booklet that I have created for the boys I work with in the Young Offenders Institute. It is designed to be self-directed, but can also be used as part of classroom teaching. This is perfect for learners studying any course at KS4 or Year 9 minimum. The focus of the booklet is gun crime in the United States. The booklet makes reference to geography skills and graphic design skills, with literacy encouraged throughout the booklet in the form of questions and answers. I decided to create this booklet after watching some of the Louis Theroux documentaries on Netflix (around gun crime in the United States). These would be a potentially great add-on to the booklet. This is part of an ongoing project I am developing. As I complete parts of it, I will upload them individually and eventually as a full bundle. The pages contain mini factfiles about each design movement, with key artists / designers and information. They are designed to be cut out (black outlines). This Lives Matter programme is designed for use with children and young people who are at risk of/have been caught carrying or using a knife. It can be used by staff in Youth Offending Teams (Youth Justice Serivce) for young people on court orders or prevention programmes, and by youth workers, Early Help and other social care officers, teachers and school staff and staff in secure settings. This programme is designed as a series of sessions with varying themes relating to knife crime and surrounding issues. You can select those which apply to the needs and circumstances of individual young people. All of the sessions can be adapted for use in one to one or group settings, as applicable.
