With this resource, I place key quotes around the classroom. Students then had 10 minutes to find a key quote for each character. Following this, they then zoomed in on a key word and explored connotations.

This presentation goes through possible scenarios/descriptive writing tasks and gets students to think about taking ownership over their writing and making it as creative as possible. This is all done through image stimuli. The first few slides asks students to assess strengths and weaknesses on another student response, to use these slides you will also need to copy your own student response.

As the title suggests, I used this resource to look at the Narrator's opening lines to the play. I asked learners to look at imagery and connotations to analyse the effect of the writer's use of language.

I have an all boys group and they needed something that they could just memorise lots of language devices with. Each time a mock came around they would forget what things to look for in the language questions.It's colourful too and can be put up in the classroom.

This presentation is a short presentation that I create to deliver on whole staff inset. it takes you through the definitions of literacy and why it is important to all subjects. It also reassures staff that they will already have an element of literacy in their lessons as well as offering practical strategies for all subjects to incorporate.

In addition to this resource you will need some lego style building bricks. Slide 1 - Gets the discussion started in your classroom. Students should use the building blocks so that you can identify who is taking part in the classroom discussion. Slide 2 - This teaching slide uses animations to teach the fundamentals of writing to argue Slide 3 - This has a thinking image. The image aims to make students consider whether or not they're contradicting themselves.

This resource is a list of how Literacy could be developed in a secondary school. Along with this, each idea include the impact that the initiative would have. There is also an additional column to put staff names in, for who may want to take responsibility in that lead.
