The Oliver Twist has both reading and descriptive writing assessment tasks, character extract analysis, model answers and a focus on conditions in the Victorian workhouse. There is also an emphasis on making comparisons and links between character and theme. Extracts are attached on the separate Word document. The scheme is suitable for a year 8 group or as a challenge for a year 7 class The Christmas Carol lessons include accompanying extracts, contextual notes, modelled examples and an exam process scaffold.
