Dulce et Decorum Est KS3 WW1 Poetry Analysis
A pair of lessons that focus on language devices and performance using the poem 'Dulce et Decorum Est' by Wilfred Owen. The first lesson explore the poem through freeze frame activities and group work while the second lesson develops analysis of language devices within the poem with a modelled example. Originally used with a mixed ability year 8 group, this would also work with a high ability KS3 year 7 group and could supplement a war poetry scheme or as a standalone pair of lessons. Prior knowledge of simile, metaphor and emotive language is expected.
KS4 AQA GCSE Stave 2 A Christmas Carol Revision Activities
Two lessons that offer revision activities for Stave 2 of A Christmas Carol. Suitable as revision activities for KS4, while the An Inspector Calls scheme is appropriate for those just beginning to study the text and for extended essay practice.

A bundle consisting of a 12 lesson scheme of work on Oliver Twist for KS3 and 15 lessons of activities, broken up by Stave for A Christmas Carol for KS4.
The Oliver Twist has both reading and descriptive writing assessment tasks, character extract analysis, model answers and a focus on conditions in the Victorian workhouse. There is also an emphasis on making comparisons and links between character and theme. Extracts are attached on the separate Word document. The scheme is suitable for a year 8 group or as a challenge for a year 7 class

Three lessons that focus on extract analysis on Titania followed by a reading exam style lesson. There is a feedback/forward task after the exam lesson that allows students to consolidate skills. Examples of modelled writing are included. This would supplement an existing scheme on A Midsummer Night's Dream and be suitable for a high ability year 7 group or mixed ability year 8 class that have already studied the text.
