I have been Head of RE, Pastoral Lead and Head of PSHE & Citizenship in my 19 year teaching career. I am currently Head of PSHE & Citizenship at a large secondary school 11-18. My shop includes: PSHE and Citizenship sessions, Assemblies, Tutor Time activities SMSC, Fundamental British Values and Religious Education. This is a 10-20 minute assembly about time management and how students can manage their time when they are at home. It was originally a Year 10 tutor time PSHE session but is suitable for a whole school assembly or session for KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It includes some brilliant tips for students to organise their time when they are not in school. It also includes important definitions and examples of the best study techniques so their time is managed effectively. It contains some discussion activities and a plenary task discussing a variety of quotes about time management. It could easily be lengthened with a timetable planning activity if you needed it to last a whole lesson. This session has two short downloaded video clips that will never disappear. It fits into the mental health, key skills, PSHE and core tutor time programmes across secondary school. Students reacted very positively to this presentation and they said it had helped them with managing their time effectively for revision.

This is a 15-20 minute assembly about community cohesion. It can be used for a tutor time PSHE session or whole school session for KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, years 7-13) and tackles the important issue of cohesion amongst the community. It has one slide that is specific to Birmingham but this can be altered or still used outside the city. There are discussion questions and no written activities although these could be easily adapted to last for an entire lesson if needed. It includes: What Community Cohesion is Why it it important Has Community Cohesion improved in the city & in the UK? Plenary thinking task about our responsibility to make our community cohesive. It has two downloaded video clips that will never disappear. Students reacted very positively to this resource; it was originally a Year 10 tutor time PSHE/Citizenship session and fits into the PSHE, RSHE, FBV, SMSC and Citizenship curriculum.

This is a 10-15 minute assembly about the important issue of anti-social behaviour. It is suitable for a whole school assembly for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) and was originally used for a tutor time PSHE session for Year 10. It includes discussion activities which could be lengthened and written for a full lesson. This is a 15 minute assembly about exam stress suitable for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It is especially useful in the run up to any periods of assessment or exams. It covers different ways and tips to manage exam stress by three downloaded short video clips that will never disappear! It has some discussion questions but this session could be lengthened by students writing notes and their own revision plan if you needed it to last a whole lesson. It was originally a Year 9 tutor time PSHE session about the importance of looking after student’s mental health in the run up to an assessment period. It fits into the new Relationships & Health Education, the Mental Health agendas, Keeping Children Safe in Education, Careers and Exam Skills and the PSHE Curriculum or it can be used as a whole school resource as an assembly.

This is a 10-20 minute assembly about the important issue of homelessness in the UK. It was originally a Year 8 tutor time PSHE session but it can be used as an assembly or easily lengthened for a whole PSHE or Citizenship lesson for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). This is a 10-20 minute assembly about Brexit which is suitable for KS3 - KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It was originally a year 7 tutor time Citizenship session which was very successful. It includes two downloaded video clips that will never disappear, some discussion questions and a quiz as a plenary to check understanding. It includes: What Brexit means What the EU is What happened on Brexit Day What happened after Brexit and what needed to be decided as a country. It also includes a discussion plenary about how Brexit affects them. This fits into the Citizenship scheme of work, Fundamental British Values, SMSC and PSHE. It can easily be lengthened to last a whole lesson. It has no written activities but should last between 10-20 minutes depending on the length of discussion in your class.

This is a 10-20 minute assembly about World AIDS day on 1st December suitable for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It focuses on the campaign of 2021 but can easily be adapted for other years. It is fully narrated and this can simply be changed by deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer it without narration. This is a 60-90 minute lesson for RE, Citizenship, SMSC, FBV or PSHE. It covers what MPs do, why students should write to them and outlines how to write an effective letter. This lesson belonged to a topic of Protest and this ends the topic with students writing their own letter of protest to their MP about something they feel is important in their local area. Suggested topics are given, written and discussion tasks included, a youtube clip that is downloaded that will never disappear and a section on emotive language and why this is important in letters of protest to MPs. There is a handout that accompanies the lesson to show students a model letter and allow them to have the selection of emotive language features in front of them while they write the letter. You will need to change the school address and MP’s details in the letter and the powerpoint to make it totally relevant for your students. This contributes to Citizenship education and was originally an RE lesson which was very well received by both the MP and the students. It is suitable for KS3 - KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) and was originally a Year 9 lesson in the topic of Protest.

This is a 10-15 minute assembly or tutor time PSHE or Safeguarding session which is fully narrated and designed for KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It outlines: What peer on peer abuse / child to child abuse is Why stopping it is so important How students can access help and support The 9 protected characteristics of the Equality Act How peer on peer / child to child abuse affects someone Signs of a negative relationship Pupil code of conduct How pupils can show positivity at school and form positive relationships Definition of peer pressure and the need to create an equal community There are discussion questions and quotes to aid discussion and these can be turned into written activities if you want to make this session last a whole lesson. There are two downloaded video clips that will never disappear and it is narrated although you can delete this by just deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer. This session contributes to ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ and the new Relationships & Sexual Education and Health Education. It also highlights safeguarding, British values and can be used as part of the PSHE curriculum. It can easily be adapted if needed but covers all the necessary guidance. Pupils have responded very well to this presentation in the past and I have updated it for this year.

This is a 60-90 minute narrated lesson about religious views on protest. It includes some downloaded video clips which will never disappear. It includes different religious quotes about protest and has activities based on Martin Niemoller’s poem, ‘Then they came for me’ and the question of whether we should protest for others. It explores how the Golden Rule of all religions can be used for views on protest and goes through how to answer a 12 mark GCSE answer on this topic - "Religious people should always protest about important issues. It includes discussion and written activities and is fully narrated. You can easily delete the icon on each slide if you do not want it narrated or want to change some of the more specific slides for homework etc. This was originally an a lesson for Year 9 in the topic of ‘Protest’ in Religious Education but is suitable for all secondary school pupils (Ages 11-18 KS3, KS4 and KS5). It can also be linked with the new RSHE curriculum, the PSHE curriculum or a whole school tutor time resource.

This is a two document package. One is a two sided powerpoint giving 60 PSHE tasks for students to do to keep themselves occupied and to learn about some important issues. This was originally used as a resource for when students were in lockdown at home but has been revamped as a resource with 18 tasks for pupils isolating or alternatives for students if they are pulled out of a PSHE lesson for any reason. There is also some mindfulness colouring in case students are struggling with an issue and just need some time out. There are also some links included to Oak Academy lessons that can be done as home learning. You will get both documents here in case you prefer one to the other or need both for the same purposes as I am using them. Suitable for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) and many students have commented about how much they learnt and enjoyed these activities.
