I have been Head of RE, Pastoral Lead and Head of PSHE & Citizenship in my 19 year teaching career. I am currently Head of PSHE & Citizenship at a large secondary school 11-18. My shop includes: PSHE and Citizenship sessions, Assemblies, Tutor Time activities SMSC, Fundamental British Values and Religious Education. This session is a 10-15 minute PSHE session that can be used as an assembly or as a tutor time whole school pastoral health focus. It outlines definitions, how girls can check for breast cancer, why it is important to know at such a young age and what the symptoms are. This has a downloaded video and includes discussion activities, information, where to get support and a plenary quiz. There are no written activities but this can be easily lengthened for a whole PSHE lesson. This is a 10-15 minute narrated assembly or Citizenship tutor time session on the no-confidence vote regarding Boris Johnson on 8th June 2022. This was to inform the students about what was going on in government, teach them about democracy and give room for debate. This could easily be lengthened to an hour’s lesson by holding a more formal debate. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) and can be used as an assembly or part of the Citizenship, PSHE, FBV, SMSC or tutor time programmes. It was used as a Citizenship whole school tutor time session in May. This is a document that has been invaluable in preparing Year 13 A Level RS Students for the Philosophy and Ethics topics in the Advanced Information for this year’s exams in June 2022. This is a PPoint presentation that has lots of practice questions on from each of the 8 topics for the Philosophy and Ethics papers. I have used this as a carousel activity by cutting them up and sticking them on A3 paper and getting students to write one argument and then the next to write a point of evaluation about the other student’s point. I have also used this to test students and to provide them with a good aid for revision.

This is a 15 minute assembly about bipolar disorder which is suitable for tutor time, PSHE or a short whole school session to explore bipolar disorder. It explains what bipolar is, what the symptoms are and how to get support if needed. There are some video clips (downloaded so they will never disappear) and discussion activities but no written tasks. It is suitable for ages 11-18 (KS3, KS4 & KS5, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) to give an overview of this mental heath illness for students. It was originally used as a KS3 PSHE session in tutor time and students enjoyed learning about this important issue. It ends with a quick true or false quiz and has a slide of charities/helplines to support them if they need it. Students reacted very well to this session. This is a 15 minute assembly, PSHE, tutor time session which covers what terrorism is, what the opinions of young people are about terrorism and focuses on what to do in a terrorist attack. It mentions the Prevent Strategy and has discussion questions and no written tasks. This was originally taught to Year 10 (14-15 year olds) and students reacted well to this presentation. It gives them advice, further information and support and helplines if they need further guidance. This is suitable for KS3, KS4 and KS5 students (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grade 6-12) but it should be noted that this content should be discussed sensitively with students. There are two downloaded video clips which will never disappear. This could be shortened or lengthened according to the session and it can be used for tutor time, assembly, PSHE, Citizenship or British Values lesson or an informative look at what students should do in a terrorist attack as a whole school message. Students reacted very well to this session and lots of interesting discussions came from it. This is a 15 minute assembly on Sexism and Gender Inequality. It was originally a tutor time PSHE session for Year 10 but is suitable for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13. It covers what sexism is and whether it is still an issue in the UK. It includes three short downloaded video clips that will never disappear! It covers sexism in the workplace, what feminism is and some statistics about sexism in the UK. It has discussion activities and no written tasks. It could easily be lengthened to a whole lesson with longer debates and written activities. This fits into the new RSHE curriculum, the PSHE curriculum and works towards addressing sexual harassment and inequality in society.
