General GCSE Maths grade 1 to 3 revision

This revision lesson I put together based on material I found most year 11 foundation students were struggling with. The revision mainly focuses on the students ability to apply the four rules of number to some literacy based question. The second revision lesson I have added is on number machines as I found that students were fine with using the number machine one way but poor on reverse. Hence practice makes perfect!

Cubics: Expanding and factorising

With factorising and removing brackets of cubics being new to the GCSE specifications last year I have introduced these two lesson to my class teaching. Starting with removal of brackets students are able to extend from the two brackets situation to the three brackets. The following lesson looks at the more complicated factorising a cubic. Initially starting with the first factor given style of question before looking at factorising with no hint given. Worksheets are given for both lessons which could be used in class or as a piece of homework.

These two PowerPoint presentations teach students how we find the area of a triangle and a trapezium. Now that students must learn the formula for the area of a trapezium I have shown how the formula is created through the knowledge of the area of a triangle. Through worked examples students learn how to apply these formulae.

This lesson is a Powerpoint and Worksheet which I have used to teach students how to add fractions together. This lesson is taught once I have covered equivalent fraction. Once the worked examples have been covered students should be given the worksheet to either complete in class or as homework. A Brexit question involving a village turn out for the referendum is a recent addition. Answers to the worksheet are also provided.

This Lesson consists of a PowerPoint which, through worked examples, teaches students about Corresponding and Alternate angles. Following the PowerPoint there are questions which the students can attempt as a piece of classwork or homework. Answers are also provided. The lesson now has an alternative way for delivery. Since COVID I have placed the poerpoint onto two two-sided lessons so that students can just complete the examples with the aid of the teacher. This saves time in copying material from the board and helps towards catch-up. Also the Worksheets can now be printed in booklet form so that students can easily submit their answers. All aimed at giving you choice when delivering the lesson.
